I am not sure I want to comment on this subject*Mom To Be?* I am done with those days! *L* Just trying to get the last lil fledgling out of the nest! MMMMMMMMMMM Peace and Quiet and TIME for making more toiletries. But I agree with Larrare, I think since we have had so many new members join us in the last year, we should all get reacquainted. Larrae, quit confusing me on where I reside, I know I am close to , but Michigan? I know your passion with horses, I was raised with them as a young girl, but you can only care for so many animals. If my 15 year old daughter had her way, we would own a couple of horses too, but the inn is full with 9 parrots, 1 golden retriever, 2 couch cats, 2 rabbits, and 2 tanks of fish. We had the most precious Newfoundland also, but just lost her this past New Years. So we are still trying to recover from that one. They are the best breed of dog I have ever owned, so in time, I know we will get another puppy. Anyone else care to share about themselves????????????? I had run out of homemade laundry soap and my mom wouldn't give me anymore from her supply. She decided she wasn't going to make it anymore. They had moved off the farm and thought rendering the lard would stink up the whole apartment complex. And she discouraged me(for about 2 yrs) in not making it. She said the lye fumes were to caustic. She believes deep down in her heart, that is why her mother died of emphysema. She never smoked a day in her life. So I tried many stain sticks and nothing compared. Being I was getting more into surfing the web I did a search on homemade soap. I had decided to make just one batch. And boy did I come up with info. But had a hard time finding a recipe for laundry soap. I had all the ingred. in the house so I did a simple batch and the rest is history. I sell my soaps at a consignment store. Haven't decided how far I want this to go. I'm married almost 21 years and have a son(almost 20) and a daughter who will be 18 on Valentines Day. Also a 100# yellow lab as a house pet. My husband and I own a welding and repair shop. It was in the family for 35 years now. Gaylord, the town I live in is about 2000 people. We manufacture and ship alot of the Crystal Farms stuff you see in the grocery stores. This is a farming community. About 95% of our business is farm eqpt. repairs. And believe me, the farm economy is not good here. I have gone out and looked for a 2nd job the beginning of this month. Not many have money to pay their bill with us. On a whim one day last July, I picked up the 'USA Today' newspaper~and inside was an article on soapmaking. The very idea of making my own soap had always intrigued me and the article was enough to get me started. And I am so glad to have found soapmaking. Im much more inclined to make CP soap but have also just realized the fun and ease and diverstiy of M & P also. About me, Im 33 years old~married 15 years~mom to 2 girls-14 and 11 years~and am a massage therapist and esthetician(skin care specialist). Ive also been making my own home cleansers, shampoos, teas, room sprays.......the list goes on and on. I really appreciate this list~I have learned an awful lot from you all and I thank you.
