First off, I am very pleased to have found this group. I am in the

process of reading many of the past messages to get myself caught up

on the topics at hand. The messages I have read so far have contained

lots of good information.

As to my (our) story.. my wife was diagnosed with IgAN about 3

weeks ago. The biopsy results showed that approximately 70% of her

glomeruli were scarred. Her urine tests showed that she had about

40% of " normal " kidney function.

After doing much research these last few weeks, we have determined

that she may have had IgAN for 4 or more years because we believe she

had an outbreak of HSP about 4 years ago. At the time it was

misdiagnosed by two different GP's becasue she was 26 and female, not

exactly your normal HSP patient.

My wife was referred to a nephrologist a month ago becasue of

elevated BUN and two consecutive tests with blood in her urine during

routine tests at our GP. On her initinal visit to the Nephrologist,

he made a guess of IgAN before the Biopsy, because my wife had just

started clearing up from an HSP re-occurance that happened in

December 2003.

Needless to say we are still trying to wrap our heads aroud this

diagnosis. It is especially hard on my wife because we have been

trying to start a family over the last two years with no success.

Anyway.. I just wanted to introduce myself (and my wife)
