Hello,

I am new here. I have a six month old son, , who was diagnosed

with torticollis at 2 months of age. Despite my best efforts to

stretch his neck and reposition him (he has also been going to PT and

seeing a doctor of osteopath who does sdjustments and cranial work) he

has developed a case of plagiocephaly and some facial asymmetry. I

have been trying to have him banded with a DOC band at Cranial

Technologies in Phoenix but we live in Denver so the trips are tough

to make for many reasons. So far, we were only able to make the inital

visit for the consult and have been waiting for insurance paperwork

ever since. It's been frustrating and I am worried that the band will

not be as effective since so much time has passed. Can anyone on this

board recommend a good orthotist in the Denver (or anywhere near

Colorado) area who can do a STAR band for my son? I would really

appreciate it so much. Also, is it too late to band him at this point?

(He's going to turn 7 months old on Oct. 14th but he was born three

weeks early if that makes a difference).

Thank you,

in Colorado

We put out son in a Hanger hemlet which is passive at 8 months and

his correction has been great. I also have heard from other moms with

preemies that their child's age is adjusted back to accomodate for

those early weeks. I hope that makes sense.

Cranial Tech bands babies up to 20 months with excellent results.

Yes it is true that growth slows down and it may take a bit longer as

the baby gets older, but the correction can be made. Have you been

calling the insurance company non stop, you have to drive them crazy

sometimes.

Can't help with referrals in Denver, but it's definitely not too

late to band - many kids get banded at that age, my son was banded

at 7 months and we saw excellent results!! I hope someone can help

you with your referral in Denver. good luck!
