Guest guest
Dear , I too could write volumes about the super vivid dreams I experience. But then again, I have other sleep disorders that create a scenario of what seems to be 24/7 dreaming. One of them is narcolepsy. Narcoleptics do not follow the usual sleep pattern of stage 1 and 2, light sleep, 3 and 4 deep sleep, followed by REM. These stages have a total elapsed time of about 90 minutes. As you near the time to wake up, this 90 minute time gets shorter and shorter. People with narcolepsy do not usually start out in stage 1 sleep, they REM (dream) first. REM can occur in any stage,i.e., it intrudes into the light stages and therefore, makies it tough to enter into the 3 and 4 stages that we as fms people need to desperately to repair bodies. We rarely get the restorative sleep of stages 3 and 4. Another reason is that we have a lot of alpha intrusion. There's a book called, " The Promise of Sleep " , written by Dement, M.D. He is considered the father of sleep. All people who suffer from fms have awful sleep. I promise all of you that if you read this book, you will be demanding that your pcp give you a referral to a " certified sleep clinic. " In one of the sleep studies that I had, fms actually showed in the sleep analysis. Anyone wanting info about sleep tests and specifically Stanford Sleep Disorder Clinic, email me privately; or better yet, so we all benefit, to the list. nitey nite, back to sleep again, vickithesleepytennisplayer
