Guest guest
Thank you, , for your advice. You asked for the reference ranges on these: > fTSH 41 normal Borderline Low: 20-25 nIU/ml Normal: 26-85 nIU/ml Borderline High: 86-120 nIU/ml > fT4 .46 high Normal: 0.17-0.42 ng/dl > fT3 .48 normal Borderline Low: 0.21-0.27 pg/ml Normal: 0.28-1.10 pg/ml > TPO negative Normal: Negative Any help is greatly appreciated! You asked for the reference ranges on > these: Your free T3 is too low (should be in upper 1/3 of range), but your free T4 is a bit high. T3 is the active form of thyroid hormone. You might benefit from selenium since it helps convert T4 to T3. Selenium supports the enzyme that converts T4 to T3. Some Armour would not be a bad idea either. You should start adrenal support before (or at least simultaneously with) thyroid support. I do not know what fTSH is (free TSH?). > > fTSH 41 normal > Borderline Low: 20-25 nIU/ml > Normal: 26-85 nIU/ml > Borderline High: 86-120 nIU/ml > > > fT4 .46 high > Normal: 0.17-0.42 ng/dl > > > fT3 .48 normal > Borderline Low: 0.21-0.27 pg/ml > Normal: 0.28-1.10 pg/ml > > > TPO negative > Normal: Negative > > > Any help is greatly appreciated! > > Carolyn J
Guest guest
I don't know how to tell if I am a fast or slow oxidizer. I have both of Andy's book but the brain fog is so bad that I am having trouble diciphering what I need out of them.

Given your low selenium on your hair test, it seems you should definitely start supplementing selenium also. Be sure and find the selenomethionine form of selenium and do not take the selenite form. Carlson has selenomethionine in 200 mcg. capsules, available from www.VitaminShoppe.com. You could take 2 or 3 a day to start. There are other vitamins/minerals that impact thyroid function, I like this article http://www.drlwilson.com/Articles/thyroid.htm. Did your hair analysis show you were a fast or slow oxidizer? The hydrocortisone is available from overseas sources. We don't like to mention the sources on the board in order to protect them. If you join the NaturalThyroid Hormones yahoo group, you can ask there, and someone will email them to you. If I knew, I would email you privately. Maybe someone else will. If you start on hydrocortisone, be sure and start low, say 5 mg., and slowly build up to about 20 mg, with doses spread throughout the day. If your adrenals are already structurally damaged, a homeopathic remedy may not be able to undo the damage. I'm not denigrating homeopathy, but once an organ sustains a certain amount of damage, I don't think the damage can be undone. If your adrenals aren't too far atrophied, maybe homeopathy can improve the functioning. already gave you good advice about avoiding white flour, white sugar, and stress. Many people don't realize that impaired thyroid functioning will result in poor adrenal health, and the adrenals will not improve unless sufficient thyroid is present. It appears your thyroid is putting out enough T4, but since it's not converting well to the active form, T3, you're probably hypothyroid at the cellular level.
