Guest guest
I think it happens fairly equally in c-section and natural births. My firstborn was natural, no problems. My son, also natural, had plagio and tort. I had lots of preterm labor, put on medication and had a couple shots of steroids for his lungs just in case he was born early. I agree as well, parents need to be informed of this before they leave the hospital with their babies. I called and emailed the two hospitals that are in my area - and finally got one of them to listen. They now give out plagio info with their Welcome Baby packets right after the baby is born. I'm still working on the other hospital, which is the one my son was born at. I am pregnant again now, and will be having a c-section. My doctor thinks that it will be safer, given the problems I had with my son. So, Im hoping that this one is plagio and tort free.... Guest guest
My baby was a C-baby but he was 10 days late. Reason for the C is that he was stuck in my pelvis last 2 months! His head was crooked at birth and he has tort. Dumb doc said it would straighten out on its own... WRONG! Lots of folks have this same story. Guest guest
Actually it was my natural birth baby that had tort/plagio. My first was breech and a C-section with low fluid and she has a perfectly round head. My son didn't have those problems, but was head down and in the same position for a long time. I guess you just never can tell. Guest guest
Hi, I don't think it's soo much the C-section itself, but rather what leads to it. Premature infants are def more likely to develop plagio due to the softer skull even, plus many of them stay in NICU where they don't get rotated much. As far as prevention teaching, I think that should be in every prenatal class, but sadly the medical community does not. Guest guest
Hi there, I think, in Shane's case, it was the darn vacuum into the world which tweaked his poor neck and turned his head into a cone up to the rightside.. I will try so hard to avoid this if I ever have another baby. But, if they must get the baby out that way, so be it. I will be more AWARE of what the heck to do and keep him/her off that side of their poor little cone head!!! (of course not one doctor, nurse, pediatrician or ANYONE mentioned any of this to me and it was quite obvious Shane had plagio and tort since birth!) (sorry, venting....) Guest guest
Good Point! All 3 of my girls were natural deliveries - however, my Sofia (7 months, plagio-tort) was said to be head down from the times I can remember it being discussed between ultrasound and doctor visits. We do need more education - I agree with that completely.
