Guest guest
I have a question about flare-ups. When you're in a flare-up, is it causing more damage to the kidney's........is each flare up putting you further into the disease?

Guest guest
Thanks Peirre, I'm not sure what his proteinuria is, but he literally overflows the toilet with bubbles........not sure if that means his is high or not? Hi , Not really, especially if the " flare-up " is just some coloured urine. I mean, I guess it could sometimes, but usually it doesn't. If the proteinuria is heavy for a while, that might cause a bit more damage.
Guest guest
Oh Amy, I am just so sorry you are feeling so bad and having a flare up. I have had flare ups in the absence of viral illnesses several times over the course of my IgAN, and I have to say I can't pin down any specific thing that caused it other than perhaps letting myself get too run down. It seems like getting enough rest is critically important to how I feel. You are in my prayers to feel better soon Amy. Guest guest
Thanks for the care and concern guys...and thanks for the hug Dave I needed it today. Talking with my hubby about it all we realized I was starting to feel yucky on Wed...we had dinner out on Tues...by Friday I was really feeling horrid. He suggested that perhaps there were some dairy products in what I ate at the restaurant which could have brought this on. I'm highly sensitive to anything with the slightest amount of dairy in it. It was buffet style place and, though I stuck to plain veggies for the most part, I did have one of the rolls they brought to the table. So it's highly possible that I had something with dairy in it that may be causing this lousy feeling. Hopefully that will mean it will end soon....pre-IgAN it would take me about 3-4 days to feel normal again after eating something with dairy in it. Now however I don't know how long it will take this stuff to get out of my system, IF it is being caused by that. I ended up passing out for a good 2 hours earlier today before my husband went to work. I just laid down on the bed to talk to him while he was on the computer and he said " I asked you something and you didn't reply, when I turned around you were sound alseep...so I left you there. " I had just gotten out of bed an hour prior to falling back asleep. The kids and him were nice enough to wake me up to make lunch though. LOL! The worst part about it all is today is the Spring Equinox and my family celebrates this day much like others celebrate Easter...so I had a full day of egg hunting, craft projects, and fun for my kids planned that I had to stay fairly functional for. Thankfully my kids understood that Mom was feeling icky and they didn't complain too much when our regular fancy Ostara dinner turned into mini pizzas shaped like little eggs instead. ) I guess the candy out of their basket was enough to keep them quiet. Guest guest
Hey Cy, Nope haven't called my neph, figured why bother him on a weekend. It's that super-woman complex I'm trying to get over ya know. My stress level hasn't changed, although I've been feeling a bit depressed this week. (I was hoping to go to Chicago this weekend to meet up with about 15 people I've known on-line for the past 5+ years...and due to my health and some other issues I was unable to go...many of them I've never met face to face and one of them flew over from the UK with her new baby to meet up with everybody. Hence my mild depression.) Amy Flare up ?'s > > > > I'm in the midst of a flare up...all the ones I've had prior to this one > > were brought on by viral infections/mild colds. Guest guest
*hugs* Amy - that really sucks. For me, I notice that if I'm under a lot of stress for a long time, I've had flare ups where I usually feel ok....in fact, my first flareup ever happened about a week after I was involved in a car accident (I was a pedestrian and a van hit me, ugh). Only bumps and bruises tho - and yet that was what gave me the gross hematuria and what diagnosed me to have IgAN. Guest guest
Hi , I think it means that the proteinuria is high. It happened to me for a while, in part due to a change in my bp meds and trying to get the right dosage for the right bp. It is scary to see that!!
