15 pounds...

Hi gang! I had a appointment with Dr. Reines today and I wanted to let

you all know how it went. I shall start from the beginning with my VERY

FIRST appointment w/ Dr. R.

In February I went to Dr. R for the first time, I got weighed in and all

was fine and dandy (a little shocking, but dandy). He informed me that I

had to loose some weight before surgery to show that I am ready to make

this commitment, I thought that it wouldn't be hard at all. SOOOO I go

back to my next appointment in April and I had GAINED a pound. I thought

that it was no big deal, I had quit smoking, quit soda, quit chocolate,

etc...Dr. R was pleased with all my good deeds but a little disappointed

about the 1 pound. I go back to Dr. R in May to get some sort of help

(drugs) to help me take the weight off. Well at this appointment I got

weighed in and I had GAINED 10 MORE pounds. I was so disappointed as was

Dr. R and he told me that if I didn't loose the weight I had put on PLUS

more he would cancel the surgery. That brings us up to today, I get

called back and I see the " MONSTER " (scale) and I look at Dr. T's wife

and I said that if I get on here and have gained MORE weight I will be

so depressed...So I walk SLOWLY to the " MONSTER " and I hop on...I look

down and LOW AND BEHOLD I had LOST 15 pounds!!!!!!! I was so happy that

I started crying and Dr. T's wife gave me a big hug! Dr. R was VERY VERY

pleased and SOOOO WASSS I!!!! 15 pounds in a month, that may not sound

like much to some people but DAMNIT I worked my A** off to loose that 15

pounds!!! Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to share!!!! :)

Kim--

Congrats on the 15 pounds...that is a wonderful achievement and it

sounds like everyone, including yourself, was pleased.

I'm so happy you were able to successfully quit smoking as well. I've

heard that for every cigarette that one smokes, it shortens their life

by 7 minutes. Think of all those minutes you are no longer subtracting

from your life!

Yay for you,

Kim that is so great!! I am so proud of you. I got very lucky that they moved

my date up so I never ended up having to get on the scale again. But I was in

the same boat as you. So I really know what you are going through. You should

be proud of yourself. Take care skinny!! Amy

Kim in Methuen,

I understand completely the frustration and then happiness about the

15 lb. loss. You are on the right track. I understand the emotional partof

it, too.

In my case, I had gained 11 lbs. from August to December before my

Jan. surgery. Dr. Thayer was not happy about that. I got a taste of what it

would be like to deal with him after surgery if I did not produce downward

numbers on the " Monster " (good name for all of them). Now, they have such

a large number of people waiting for the surgery, they are being stricter

about

this weight gain before surgery and require an appointment or two prior to

the

big day. Last year in December, it was my decision to see Dr. Thayer in

December because I had a lot of questions in my mind going back to my

August appointment.

Anyway, Great Work!! You beat the " Monster " . Sally
