Guest guest
Got my biopsy results today and, as suspected (my brother has a biopsy confirmed case) it is IGA. Thanks to everyone who responded to my concerns about what to expect from the biopsy. It went fine. The folks at UAB in B'ham, Alabama are top caliber in my humble opinion. My neph says that I have " relatively little scarring " which is good news, but my greatest challenge will be to get the proteinuria under control (2.8g/day). He is reccomending a higher dose of ACE than I am currently taking and going to a twice a day dose as opposed to a once-a-day. He is also very interested in the fact that my paternal 1/2 brother and I both have it and wants us to participate in some sort of study. We're gonna do it, but it means I've got to have my kids give blood/urine which terrifies me to no end (I'm afraid of what the results may tell me). Regardless, I intend to do my part to further the research of this disease. Again, thanks to everyone for your support and I wish all of you the very best as we work through this together. I'm a firm believer in the power of positive thinking, so no matter how bad things seem, try your best to stay positive.
