Hi all! I haven't been on the board for a loooong time due to the

presence of a two-year-old in the house. Oh, he is PERFECT!!! For

anyone worried about the terrible twos, relax--tantrums are FUNNY!

But you do stay busy....

For those who don't remember or who might care a little bit,

started DOC Band therapy very late, at 18 months. We flew from

Seattle to San Diego every three weeks for adjustments.

Just checking in to say, if you are thinking about getting a DOC Band

but are on the fence, RUN to the nearest CT! I was recently looking

at video of my son at 8 months. He was, of course, my perfect

angel...but it did look like someone had stepped on his head! You

should see him now--absolutely beautiful. People actually stop me all

the time to tell me how gorgeous he is. He had some post-helmet

rounding (his face evened up a little more) but I really couldn't

believe how effective the DOC Band was. In fact, I have seen children

who had a passive (Clarren) helmet starting at 6 months, and I

believe got better correction with a DOC Band starting at 18

mos than those babies did starting at 6. It makes me sad that there

isn't a CT up here in Seattle--there are a lot of funny-lookin' kids

around here!

Anyway, I will be trying to get on the board more. It just amazes me

to look at his old baby video, and to look at him now. At 18 mos,

neighborhood kids were already teasing him, and he had a speech delay

and possibly some hearing problems. Now that his head is straightened

up, the kids tell me how pretty he is, he is talking up a storm, and

he hears me just fine (unless I'm talking about bedtime). I really

don't know if his hearing and speech problems were related to his

head shape, but I do know that within a couple of months of coming

out of the band, he caught up. Yippee!!

I'll quit boring you now. I just wanted to say hello and catch up. I

am so happy with our decision to band this little guy. Even though we

lost our fight with the insurance company and have not had heat this

winter, I still consider it worth every penny and every freezing

night to set this child up for a normal life. I will try to post a

recent pic.

:)
