Guest guest
Hi Tony! I was so happy to read your email! You can be sure I will be praying for you and your brother tomorrow! I laughed about your foot massage at $200.00 an hour. I happen to have a friend who had a transplant in 2003 (not IgAN related) and he was one of my professors...therefore you would assume a reasonably intelligent man. But he was paying about that to go see a holistic specialist who would put a container of water on his belly twice a day, and he swears that was what kept him going until he had his transplant. Now, I am a scientist by education, and I completely understand osmosis...but through a glass container????? Supposedly this was supposed to remove the toxins from his blood twice a day. He suggested that I should see this doctor (I use the term loosely) also. Fortunately, my cognitive skills were still somewhat in working order, and I declined to empty my bank account in such a fashion! Good luck tomorrow Tony, and let us know when you can how it went! Guest guest
Sounds like you have a great attitude Tony, despite the hands shaking and the knotty stomach (which I also had when I only almost got a kidney a few months ago). Guest guest
Glad to hear all the testing went so well for you and your brother. I don't think my son named his new kidney, but that's an interesting idea. He did find it very interesting that he could feel it or at least the outline of it (and it definitely was kidney shaped) just below the surface of his lower abdomen. We made many jokes about how some of my various traits might be transferred through the kidney. The night before the transplant, I did give my son a letter giving him ownership of one well-used and slightly hyperactive kidney " free and clear " and reassuring him that whatever the outcome, I would have no regrets. Donating that kidney has been one of the most thrilling and satisfying things I've done in my life - right up there with having babies - so although you are feeling immensely grateful to your brother, he's also going to feel really great about it too. Each of you gets a gift out of this deal, and you can celebrate the transplant anniversary together. Good luck - I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
Tony You and your brother will be in my thoughts. Sending lots of healing energy your way, witch doctor style just for you. ) I love the name you have chosen for your newest body part, it's perfect. Don't hassle the nurses too much, you never know what they will do when you are asleep. Amy

Guest guest
, Thats funny as all hell. How could a container of water help avoid dialysis or kidney transplant. Now if it were a container of urine Produced by his own bladder that would have been a more clear sign he dindt need help. I've made another decision, on behalf of my brother refering to me as Kidney boy since I became sick, I will call him the piss boy. After all if it werent for him ... nuff said. Amusing myself, since I can't sleep. That will be resolved once I hit the OR.
Guest guest
Good Luck Tony, It's a wonderful experience, you are very lucky. I have to say that you attitude and sense of humor is great. I laughed a while and started walking around petting my transplanted kidney thinking " my prescious... " I hope everything goes well for you and that your life returns to " normal " once again.
