Hello everyone,

I haven't written for awhile but I have religiously

read your posts and love all your warmth and honesty.

My question today is whether or not anyone has tried

biofeedback for their pain. I saw a doctor at the Pain

Clinic today and asked if I could and he is signing me

up for 4 or 5 sessions.

Thanks,

Hi ,

Is biofeedback anything like meditation...relaxation?

If so, I have, and it works!!!

I've gone so far as telling myself " there is no such

thing as pain " and actually having it subside for a

few minutes. I haven't mastered the belief it would

take to completely get rid of it yet, (up until now!),

but, I'm working on it!

I agree with you...all these people here are great!

LOL

Hi ,

Glad to hear that you practice meditation! I remember

the first time I heard about it, and I said, " what's

that? " I pictured those guys who use to stand in the

airport, in their white robes, bald heads, and handed

out flowers. (I can't remember what they called

themselves) Something told me it wasn't that, and I

went to the library and found books on the subject,

but I kept finding other books, and the meditation

books went unread (I felt really guilty!), but a year

later, after all the (side-track) books, I found that

they not only explained what it was, but why it

worked.

It was quite a journey that changed my life immensely.

You go girl! After you learn Greek, do you plan to

go to Greece? I've always wanted to go there. I hear

it's really beautiful! I know I 'love' Greek food.

I've driven all the way to Chicago (180 miles) just

to have a gyros! There's this place on Broadway that

has the best Greek food there is! I'm getting hungry

for one, just thinking about it...I wonder if I can

talk my husband into taking a ride?!! It might be

worth getting stiff and sore over!!!!

Have a great day!

LOL

I too have tried biofeedback for tinnitus and it never helped me either. I

don't know what it would do for pain but if anyone tries it, please let us

know if it works out.

Take care.

Hey ,

I will let you know how the biofeedback goes. Because

I have such horrible reactions to pain meds, I thought

it would be a wiser choice. I don't really know what

it is, but will find out in a few weeks. I'll let

everyone know if it indeed helps with the pain. I

actually am having a great day as I got out and felt

very independent, something my spirit direly needed. I

watched a movie with a friend tonight and then went on

my trusty computer to see how all of you are. I love

reading your posts as it is " research " into my

symptoms -- trying to figure it all out, as I suppose

we all are.

Dear ,

Here, here, you go girl!!!

You're right, your spirit needs that feeling of

'independence'. Overcoming fears gives it just that

I couldn't have put it any better!

How much do we deprive ourselves? How often do we

give ourselves permission? I think we're all pretty

hard on ourselves at times, don't you? I can really

go to town on giving myself a lashing, and I pay for

it physically later! Atleast I'm becoming aware of

it...and that's a start!

Good luck with the biofeedback, and by the way,

what is Trancendental Meditation anyway? I've hear

of it...I might even be doing it and not know!

Take care!

LOL

I agree with Irene... It would be very interesting to hear how it actually

works for pain.

Thanks, --

Yeah, it seems that pain meds either make me feel

really groggy (for a long time) or burn my stomach.

I'm a doctor's challenge when it comes to drugs. I'm

hoping biofeedback will be what I need.
