Guest guest
Hi Roxie, I just read your post. I am sorry to hear that it was a difficult surgery. I just wanted to say when I had my surgery with my OB, there was also a puncture. The punctures usually heal on their own. From what I understand, they are the size of a pin head. The same size they use for amnio. Sometimes the uterus spasms. When I told Dr.Copperman about my last surgery with the puncture, he felt this was common, and not to worry. I had my first surgery with Copperman in July. My previous surgery was in May with my OB. I know how you feel regarding not wanting to go to the hospital again. It is just awful there. If you do have the strength to do another round of surgery, I think your insurance company will pay. It seems to be common that pelvic surgeries are multiple. It may even look like a different procedure, if he adds the lap, and works on different areas. Did he give you any estrogen? I am not sure it would help, I am just curious. I hope you begin to feel a little better emotionally, and physically. Roxann Barker wrote: HI everyone,I just got home so I am very behind on messages and hope to be caught up soon. My surgery did not go so well. There was a large band of scar tissue just past my cervix and the good news is when Dr. Olive went through it he found that I have a lot more open cavity than it appeared on the HSG. The bad news is he also punctured my uterus while getting through this band of scar tissue and also he could see no endometrium and it looks like even though the cavity is fairly open I am completely scarred. He had to stop the surgery because of the puncture and explained that now he has a much better picture of what is going on. I will be seeing him in a week for a follow up and a better explanation. He showed my husband the pictures and explained to him but my dh does not retain medical info very well. He wants to do a lap/hyst when I heal and thinks he can fix everything at once. I am not sure what I am going to do since this was very stressful and I'm not sure that my insurance will cover another surgery. I wish he would have just did the lap/hyst to begin with but I know he was trying to be conservative and he wasn't sure what he was going to find. I feel fine and had no problems with anesthetic etc... I just don't feel like going throught this whole process again. Thanks for all of your support.Roxie
Guest guest
Roxie, I am sorry to hear about your puncture from the surgery. This is very disappointing, but at least you were with a specialist and he knew when to quit. And, he was honest and knowledgable to tell you to come back and he would attempt to fix you up in one more surgery. I saw two or three doctors (before I saw Dr Palter) who told me it would take at least three surgeries to correct my scarring. It is VERY COMMON to have to have more than one surgery to get a healthy uterus again. Please try to stay positive and focus on what he said for the next time. " He thinks he can fix you up in one more surgery and now he has a much better picture of what's going on inside your uterus. " Get some rest and take care of yourself. You are more than half way through this and you will continue to win your battle. W
Guest guest
Roxie, I am sad to hear that you also seem to have had a bad diagnosis, but the fact that he want to go in again I believe means that he believes he can help. Wouldn't you always wonder what if, if you didn't take this chance? Take it easy for a while and think about what you really want. Guest guest
Roxie, I'm sorry to hear about your surgery and the uterine puncture. I had the same thing happen to me about 1 month ago. It is so diappointing when you wake up to find that more surgery is necessary after having such high expectations of getting everything taken care of. Best wishes during the next phase of treatment. Guest guest
Hello Roxie, I have only just read about your surgery as I've been away. I'm sorry things didn't go as well as they could have but at least now you have a clearer picture of what is going on than before. I had a perforated uterus two surgeries ago and it healed very successfully on its own - so I wish you well. I can understand your feelings about having more surgery. I have had six or seven since my daughter was born in June 1998 - some for endometriosis but four were for the AS. I think two surgeries ago I decided I would have no more operations. As I lay on the trolley waiting for the anaesthetic, I decided that if that sugery failed I would give up and get on with my life. However it is amazing how soon memories fade and low and behold I found myself back on that trolley awaiting yet another procedure!! I'm sure you do not feel like contemplating another surgery at the moment but I have found I have been able to deal with the procedures better as time has gone on (not that anyone would seek to have these experiences out of choice of course!!)- but one knows what to expect and things become a little less daunting. Hope this helps a little and best of luck as you continue your journey. I will be thinking of you and hoping for success in whatever steps you choose to take next. a -
