Guest guest
I totally agree with Georga on this. This woman is a complete bitch (the teacher, not Georga!) and I'd have her ass in a sling. She obviously does not like Boone, and I'd pull him out of there. It's not fair to him, no matter what they promise will be done. They obviously don't care about him there, or they'd be doing more to oversee what she's doing. He's going to be so messed up you're never going to be able to get him straightened out. Just my .02, but it really pisses me off when special kids (or any kids) keep getting knocked down like this. ellen Re: Maybe it's just me Sissi ~ I worry for Boone. I really do. With comments and red marks like that all over his paper, being overly critical that bitch teacher is going to ruin his love for school let alone his love for learning. This is not good. I really want to come down there and smack the piss out of that woman! Georga Hackworth www.ubah.com/F1549 Enter to win $50 in FREE books! Guest guest
Sissi, is ten and in fifth grade. That page is as good or better than writes NOW. Chris's teacher is VERY pleased that Chris's printing is averaging about 80% legible. We are not talking anything anywhere near approaching neat or attractive. We are talking if you look at it carefully you actually can decipher what it was he was trying to write. Spelling is another matter entirely different. can spell winter and black (probably). The rest would have been a guess. Now maybe Boone will be able to have better handwriting, but for being only five, even for an NT kid I think that's fairly decent. And even if Boone is brilliant, which he is of course, he is still only five, and being graded for spelling words like January and history are ridiculous. But that's just my opinion. Harumph. Want me to slap the teacher for you? Ugh.

Guest guest
it's not just you - OH MY FUCKING GOD!! i think that was an excellent piece of work for any five year old never mind someone with a diagnosed developmental disabilty. now that being said, i don't care if he'd drooled and scribbled all over the paper - has this teacher never heard of positive reinforcement? how about errorless learning? constructive criticism? i find those comments to be demeaning, shaming, critical and just plain not nice. good work boone - i'm sending one big cyber gold star your way! kick her ass siss!. give her one for me too! michelle mg

Guest guest
What is wrong with that?? I really think he did a GREAT job! Seb is NT in grade K and his handwriting comes NOWHERE close to that! At least his letters are all in the right direction and legible! I think the teacher is a nitpick, there should not have been all those red marks without a lot more comments on all that is GOOD about it! She deserves it but you know.... You are right. You have to be smart and you have to have a paper trail. Good thinking.
Guest guest
Sissi Both my best friend in land and my Aunt are first grade teachers with Masters degrees. If you could send me a jpeg of his worksheet I will email them both and ask their opinion of this worksheet and the teachers response. I can't send it and ask their opinion of the worksheet telling them only that the child is 5 or whatever you would like. Hugs
Guest guest
Sissi If you were here Boone would be going to either Vanguard, Lovaas, Eden Institute, CLC or Bancroft. You could make them pay for anything. They might want to think about that since all the above schools range from 30-52,000 a year. I'd start looking and then show them what they could do for you. Guest guest
Putter at almost seven is still looking a bit like this. And he writes much better than the other kindergartners. You are not out of line at all, Sissi. Salli

Guest guest
I sent him back this week. I am waiting to hear from them still. They have some time left. But I think they're pushing me because I'm pushing the issue with Dr. Mueller. Boone loves school. I just wonder how much longer he's going to love it bring home papers like this. He CAN read, so he knows exactly what it says. Sissi RE: Maybe it's just me > I don't think it's just you. > > I think it is fucking incredible that he can do a worksheet like that at > all. Guest guest
>> Please look at this and tell me what YOU think. Please be completely honest with me. Someone's health may depend on it.>> Sissi, From a therapist standpoint, a little boy who is only 5 should not be expected to have the fine motor and motor planning skills to write....period. The schools are creating problems for themselves by pushing handwriting earlier and earlier. NOW, add to that the fact that this 5 yr old boy is autistic (a condition now considered in the therapy world to include a movement disorder), and you have a situation where a child who has basically been set up for failure is being debased because of the adult's ignorance. THAT is my opinion. BTW, is this the same teacher who does the " basket hold " ? Raena (who thinks NO kindergartner should be doing this much writing)
