Guest guest
Ok, ok, and Cammie, I will oblige. ;-) Here's a brief update: I'm almost 5 months post-op right now, (upper advanced 5 mm, and raised 4 mm only in the back, for those who don't remember/know me), and I must say I'm really satisfied with the outcome. My bite is starting fit how it should, like a puzzle you finally manage to finish. I think I'm pretty near to my brace free day, however, I've been telling my ortho I don't mind how much time he needs, I want to do things the right way (I copied you, !) ;-) Regarding appearance I'm quite happy too. My face changed very little but in a good way. However, right now I've got so used to my new me that I can no longer point out the differences. It's funny how different people see different degrees of change, and how it has nothing to do with how much they knew me before (my mother for instance swears I look exactly the same). One little thing you may find interesting: My ortho is getting creative with me. Last appointment he put a power chain in my braces, but tying it to them only in both ends of the chain, the rest is ACCROSS my mouth, trying to narrow my lower arch, I guess. All the assistants were looking at me and saying " Ahhh! " " Oohh! " ... you get the point. Then my ortho said he doesn't do this often, because most patients don't tolerate it very good... must think I'm a 4X4! :-D By the way, there's no frustration, you've managed to help me get over it! And don't worry Cammie, I don't even consider going away ;-) Hugs, *laen*
Guest guest
YIKES, Laen. You mean across the mouth, as in over, or under, the tongue??? I don't wonder that most folks don't tolerate that well. But hey, it sounds as though you're getting really, really close! And I'm glad you're pleased with your results. My sweet ortho, in looking in my post-op mouth after a few weeks of the closing elastics, said, " This is the really rewarding part of doing ortho with the surgery, seeing it all come together in a perfect result. " I could have given him a great big smooch at that point, but I was scared I'd scare him! I have my fingers crossed for you that " the appointment of relief " will come soon.
