Hi Amy,

I only very rarely snack, so I am probably not the best person to ask, but

when I do, I eat fruit since I am such a fruit lover. It is my favorite food

group. I do have to be careful with potassium content, but berries and grapes

as well as pears and apples are low in potassium.

Hope that helps.

Hi Amy, I tend to be a snacker too. This could be a problem if I go

on Prednisone (which will be very shortly, I'm sure).

Usually, I like chips. But since I can't, I am going to focus on

veggies and fruits. My favourites are apples, grapes, and baby

carrots.

Meg eats a lot of carrots, salads, no salt health food store Chips,

grapes and apples. She enjoys low sodium chocolate. (She is a great

label reader!!)

Also she likes the lower in sodium Granola bars. And Oatmeal.

She " cheats " ocassionallly with a no-sause mushroom pizza slice.

(Tomato sauce doesn't agree with her). And once in awhile with a

couple of fried okra or fried mushrooms. She has a Sprite maybe once

a month, if that.

She drinks water and flavored seltzer water and is very consciuos of

her diet. She also drinks Celestial Seasons teas. And has a " Cafe'

Mocha " recipe that is lower in sodium and uses Splenda so no calories

there! It tastes wickedly delicious! (As a Diabetic I feel lkie I am

cheating when we have it!! LOL)

She has been blessed with *only* a low sodium diet, and actually

dislikes most so-called " normal " Teenager Foods. To the dismay of her

friends, they " feel bad " for her that she cannot eat at Mc's...

she doesn't mind a bit actually. LOL

She is steadily going more Vegetarian, Lacto-Ova though.

Blessings, (Meg's Mom)

tell Meg I know the feeling...I'm a Ovo-Vegetarian, (nearly Vegan) and

have been for many years. :) When I was in highschool, many moons ago, my

friends used to tease me about only ordering fries, or a burger with no meat

(just the veggies and a bun) at fast food places...and even then I couldn't

eat Mcs fries due to the fact that they contain animal products.

What health food store have you found no-salt chips at?? Our Wild Oats

doesn't carry them for some strange reason I can't seem to fathom. We just

had a Whole Foods open up but I haven't been in there as of yet.

I'm on a low salt, low protein, mildly restricted potassium and phosphorus

diet...so I can still do potatoes and chocolate on occasion. :)

Thanks for the ideas!

None of my snacks are healthy *hangs head in shame* I just so love crisps -

potato chips to most of you guys, and cheese and onion or smokey bacon or beef

and onion are so my best flavours Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Damn! :o)

Snacks? What are your favorites?

O.k. I'm in dire need of a change. I'm a snacker, I like to graze all day.

I have a small cabinet in my kitchen away from the regular food for " Mom's

Snacks " I keep it stocked with dried cranberries, unsalted sunflower seeds,

some candies (those jelly kind), and the occasional bag of semi-sweet

chocolate chips (since I got the o.k. to eat them on occasion). I'm getting

bored with these snacks and I'm looking for some new quick munchie type

snacks to put up there...so my question for you is:

What are your favorite, quick, pop in your mouth and go, sort of snacks?

I'm finding myself munching on the snacks I buy for my kids and

hubby....many of them are on my no-no list for their salt content so I

really need to find some better alternatives!! Any suggestions will be

greatly appreciated.
