We got the ct scan results and everything looks normal so we are going

ahead with the casting. We were lucky enough to get an appointment

tomorrow with no problems...only three days after the ct scan. I am

very nervous, because after all the neck excersices, Seth hates to have

his head even touched. Does anyone have any suggestions for tomorror?

Jen,

If Seth hates to even have his head touched, I would bring your husband to the

casting.

My daughter Sophia doesn't mind having her head touched and she screamed until

she

was purple and bucked like a bronco so badly that CT had to bring in

reinforcements to

hold her down! Fortunately, she got over the nightmare in about 2 minutes, and

had fun

playing in the bath afterward. But if his cast is wiggled AT ALL it has to be

redone - so

you want to be sure you can really hold him down. Sounds awful, but it passes

quickly....

Jen,

I have to say they do say some babies do well with the

casting... But when we went Aidan of course didn't want to be held

down and that's what I had to do. But they work really quickly to get

it over with. Good Luck!!!

I'm sure many may have offered the same suggestions I have but it

case they haven't, here they are. It's really simple. Anything and

everything that you use to help comfort him when he's stressed or

uncomfortable (besides the obvious solution...holding). Whether it

be a pacifier, bottle, book, toy, singing. My daughter who was 9

months at the time (6 corrected age) cried the entire time, and

honestly it was quite difficult. The blessing is that it was only

about 10 minutes. I'm only being honest, it seemed longer at the

time but I tried to focus on keeping her as calm as I could and

focused on why we were doing this and it helped a little. My

situation was a little more stressful for my daughter because it was

right at her naptime so she was tired and cranky and all she wanted

to do was lie down, and wanted to be left alone. haha I actually

can laugh a little about it now. Bathtime was wonderful though...

it seemed to wipe away any tears and frustration for her... mommy

too! Well, good luck tomorrow. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Remember, it's only a few minutes for a lifetime of change for you

son.
