Guest guest
I have tell you all how sweet Kevan was yesterday. He is off all week and is home with him (they're bonding). I get a call from the gatehouse at about 11:30 and it is Kevan and . They stopped by Subway and brought lunch (WW friendly) to my workplace for a picnic! I don't know if I have told you, but the manufacturing facility where I work is nestled in the middle of a NC State Park on the top of a mountain and is a 20 minute drive to the closest town. Really quite beautiful and if you didn't know there was a plant here you wouldn't know there is a plant here! Well, we went over to the lake and had a picnic under the trees and it was great! I was tickled! They ended up kidnapping me for the rest of the day and we just had a wonderful time! Guest guest
I really is a wonderful place to work. Unfortunately the " Mother Company " (and I do mean mother in EVERY sense of the word) for Agfa in Belgium is shutting our doors at the end of the year. Really sad because this plant has been here for 40 years making the best x-ray film in the world and has been one of the largest employers in Transylvania county. Oh well, for everything there is a season! Guest guest
Yup! Since our plant is closing due to foreign competition, the employees qualify for a federal assistance program. Part of this program includes money to go to college on as well as payment of unemployment benefits while you attend school. You may attend school a maximum of 2 years under this program. I plan to return to school and complete a bachelor's degree in education as I'd like to teach science at the middle school level. Luckily, I have an associates degree in science so I have most of my general education requirements under my belt and will be able to go directly into the core classes. They still have not given me a termination date so I'm not sure when all this will take place. I do know that dealing with the lay-off has been easier since I have a plan in place. Thanks for asking! |--------+-----------------------> | | " RW " | | | <r.rweston@ve| | | rizon.net> | | | | | | 07/02/2002 | | | 12:09 PM | | | Please | | | respond to | | | wwliterside | | | | |--------+-----------------------> >-----------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: wwliterside | | cc: (bcc: -C /BRE/AGFA/US/BAYER) | | Subject: Re: 's 7/1/02 | | journal | >-----------------------------------------------------------| Do you know what you are going to do?
