Guest guest
A nurse at my fertility clinic told me today that Clomiphene (?sp) does not thin the endometrial lining even though it is considered an anti-estrogen. She said that it won't make a thin lining any worse. Rather, it simply won't thicken it they way we would like. She didn't comment on gonadotrophins. Question 1: Any input on this thining the lining issue as it relates to clomid? Question 2: Does anyone have any comments on how frequently clomid causes problematic ovarian cysts? I am prone to large ovarian cysts that can burst or shrink and go away after lots of waiting. I've had a couple of cystectomies via lap. At 8-10cm. they can really hurt! The first time I miscarried, I was rushed to the ER with intense pain. I sort of convulsed through the night at the hospital as they doped me up with dilauded (?sp). That time a had a 10cm. cyst that must have just shifted to a really painful spot. The baby had a good strong heartbeat the morning I was admitted and all cardiac activity had stopped by the next morning. I fear cysts some, but I really fear cysts in pregnancy. My doctor has been talking about it for a while and it's apparent to me that I need to try it, but I'm hoping to assuage a few fears first. As always, you're input is greatly valued. Thanks! - J. Guest guest
, I have to disagree with your nurse. If you have lining issues Clomiphene definitely can thin the lining especially with repeated use. I can't remember the exact reasons other than the length of time it takes your system to purge the drug. My RE put me on Letrazole (Femara) which is actually a breast cancer drug used in Canada. My RE has better success with it than Clomid and it leaves the system quickly. His website for more info is http://www.soft-infertility.com/ if you'd like to take a look. Dr. is highly respected and started his private practice 3 years ago. The pregnancy rates are significantly higher than the government run fertility clinic I went to before. Hope this helps AmyL
