I had my RNY surgery on August 27, 2001, and I got pregnant in June 2002. My

weight was down to about 170 when I got pregnant. I am now 34 weeks

pregnant, and have busted over 200 lbs! (Do not worry! I know exactly how

you feel, it is discouraging, but you need to gain weight for you and the

baby. You can focus on losing the weight after the baby is born. Like I have

mentioned in previous postings, I have learned to 'let go' about my whole

weight gain thing. Thats all you can do. Don't beat yourself up, or stress

out.

Best of luck to you!

Hey Annie,

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone LOL.

I had my surgery April 2001, and also got pregnant June 2002.

I am 32 weeks pregnant and have gained 25 lbs. I started out at 175lbs and

now weigh 200 lbs. I too, had to deal with the fact that the scale was

going up and not down, and have also learned " to let go " .

Thanks for sharing your story, it's nice to know I am not alone.

You HAVE to stop freaking out or you're just going to make yourself

miserable. I know I may sound insensitive, so please keep in mind that I,

too, was over 330 lbs. and had to deal with massive weight gain from my

previous pregnancy. I know what it's like being morbidly obese and I know

the freedom and euphoria that comes from simple things like fitting into an

airplane seat or restaurant booth. I also understand what it's like to get

pregnant while you're still losing weight (I had 50-60lbs to go). BUT, try

to put your weight gain into perspective. You're talking about 30 lbs, not

150! Those 30 or so pounds are not going to suddenly make you feel like you

did before surgery. Your baby needs that weight to grow and develop or your

body wouldn't be begging for food like it is. I mean, what did you expect

when you decided to have a child (or decided to keep it if it was a

surprise)? If you already have kids you know that having children is all

about sacrifice and compromise...and it starts the second you get pregnant

with the toll it takes on your body and continues on through the rest of

your life.

Take a deep breath and try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can. Try

to be smart about what you're eating (way easier said than done!) so it

won't be so hard to get rid of it later. Be thankful that you've gotten

down to 200 before getting pregnant and aren't still lugging around the

extra weight. Trust me, it sucks being that heavy and being pregnant (it

was very difficult for me, anyway). Like Annie said, just try to let the

whole weight thing go for now.

Good luck and congratulations!

You are 5 months and have only gained 12 pounds? I would say you are doing very

good. I dont know much about your situation, but if you are stressing out this

badly (it seems you are pretty depressed about this), then could you possibly

talk to someone about your feelings? I think a 12 pound gain for being 5 months

pregnant is awesome.

To answer your question about having a baby AFTER wls and losing the weight, I

just had my son last month, (December 10th). I gained a total of 34 pounds

during my pregnancy (most after month 4) and I lost 25 of it in the first 10-14

days. So, it DOES come off! You need to keep the bigger picture in mind, and

that is the health of your baby!

I know it is hard to let the weight issue go, but you have to try. We have all

gone through what you have, so we understand that its SO very hard to see that

scale go in the opposite direction of what we have become accustomed to, but it

is healthy to gain weight during your pregnancy. If you are so confused, (and I

really dont understand why your doctor cant help you out here), then you need to

find a doctor who CAN help you and answer your questions. I sure hope you feel

better soon, I know its awful feeling this way, but please try to keep the

bottom line in sight, and that is the healthy and happiness of your baby. Best

of luck to you!
