Guest guest
Hello everyone... New member here. I've been lurking around reading post and looking at pics. Beatiful babies Ladies! Good job! My Son was born 8/25/04 with plagio do to intrauterine constraint. (he was head down for over 3 months in utero). I have been hounding Our Ped. since he was born about his mishaped head. Time and time again I was told it was normal and it would evenatually go away with age. Well it hasn't it just keeps what I like to refer to as " twisting " . However our Ped. has noted my concerns in my sons chart on every visit. Last well baby at 9 Months she finally came to agree w/ me that his head insn't within normal ranges and referred me to an N-S @ Pheonix childrens Hosp. which is 3 hours drive from me. I was referred to Cranial Technologies. After sitting in the Tricare ofc on base for several hours I was then reffered to Hanger locally. As Cranial tech is not in the provider directory. I didn't have a problem getting our insurance to accept our claim for treatment as it has been noted in our chart since our first visit w/ the Ped. I must admit I am more than a little upset that it has taken 9 months after repeated concerns were brought to our Ped. attention in regards to his head. Well we get down there for a consult and fitting @ the hanger ofc. and won't be still for the laser. He's a huge baby! He's almost as tall as my 3 year old and they both weigh the same and hes only 9 months old. They ended up having to make a plaster molding of his head. (I think it hurt me more just watching it). I am concerned that it won't fit right and it's going to cause him pain or something. He's above average in growth for his age and I am just thinking that he'll outgrow the Band quickly and it will cause him pain. Plus I looked at pics of bands that didn't fit right so now I think It won't fit and I'll be up all night hearing him cry in agony. Maybe I'm paranoid... We should be getting his band sometime this week and I will posting pics of our lil man. Best regards to you and yours Ladies

Guest guest
Welcome to the group! My daughter also had plagio from inutero constraint. Did you make sure your Hanger ortho has experience and special training in treating plagio babies? If so, you shouldn't have any problems with the fit. A proper fitting helmet will not cause the baby pain. If it doesn't fit right you can't keep it on him, so either way you don't have to worry about him crying all night b/c he is in agony! The plaster cast should provide a very accurate mold of his head, which should produce a proper fitting helmet (again, as long as your ortho is experienced). Please do let us know how the fitting goes and definitely post pics of in hs band! , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com --- In Plagiocephaly , " gysgt2u1 " <gysgt2u1@y...> wrote: > Hello everyone... Guest guest
Okay I have a question (and maybe it is a dumb one) how can you tell that the plagio was caused by inutero constraint? I am just wondering because I am already neurotic about this happening to the next child -- which isn't in the works for a while! --- <sarahhollis@...> wrote: > Welcome to the group! Guest guest
na had inuterine constraint. We could tell because her basic headshape at birth matched her headshape at 2 months. We have pics on our family website - click on the plagio link. I just had my 2nd child an was very concerned about this. I even discussed with OB - she teased me she would not induce early if the baby dropped early because a mishappen head was much easier to correct than prematurity. Anyway this baby came 2 1/2 weeks early on her own. She didn't drop until the day before she was born (drop as in past -1 station) whereas na was 0 station at 36 weeks and wasn't born until 39 weeks 4 days after 10 days at +1 station in the pelvic bone. At birth I did notice some similarities in the their headshapes - however over the past 8 days Kiersten's head has started to round out. I attribute it to the amount of time pressed against my pelvis. You can't do anything about the shape of your pelvis or how you carry your children. I wouldn't worry about it now or even while pregnant. Just take comfort in the fact that you know about plagio and know how to treat/prevent/etc. mom to na DOC Grad www.thefilyaws.compennylac <pennylac@...> wrote: Okay I have a question (and maybe it is a dumb one)how can you tell that the plagio was caused by inuteroconstraint?
