I do a lot of ortho and my docs frequently say " pole of the patella. " I

tried putting that into Google and did come up with a number of hits,

including Wheeless' Textbook of Orthopaedics.

Need Ortho Help Please??

> He is pleasant, alert, and oriented. He has no effusion on either knee.

He has a reproducible click of his right patella. He reproduces the pain by

doing a one-legged squat at about 45 degrees, and points to the pain,

really, directly at the midportion of the patella. He is nontender over the

superior and inferior ___________. He has negative apprehension test.

Anterior and posterior drawer, and Lachman are all negative. He is stable

to varus and valgus stress. His left knee exam is normal.

EXAM: She is nontender over the ATFL today. The ___________ is great in the

peroneals. She is walking with a normal gait.

MEDICAL DECISION:

Assessment: Right chronic ankle instability, which has improved a great deal

with physical therapy. Left severe hallux valgus.

SL/ mortar

Anybody have a clue here?

Thanks in advance,

'motor' might be it. It looks like a muscle test that was done on the peroneals,

which might be done along with checking the ATFL. They are both on the same side

of the ankle.
