Hi there - late here so I wont say much. Mike is 7 yrs old - seizures started

for him when he was almost 4 and he has been on keto for 3 years with amazing

results :) He was seizure free for almost 5 months (til we weaned all meds) then

they started up again, but he is again after a month, almost controlled on just

the diet :)

I am in Manitoba Canada - not exactly neighbors here, but it is great to see

more Canadians around :)

Good luck with the diet initiation :)

mom to Mike - 7yrs old - myoclonic epilepsy, 3 yrs on keto and med free (still

amazed to be able to type that), asthma

new and nervous

Hi

I've never belonged to an online anything before but I can see the

beniet already. My four year old son (brain injured with global

dev. delays) is about to start the kd. He's had seizures for three

years but they've only become intollerably intractable over the past

eight or nine months. In that time however he has lost his ability

to walk, to sit up, feed himself etc. He is irritible (go figure!)

and perseverative and desperatly needs his life back.

I'm almost afraid to start the kd because I've put so much hope into

it. We'll be crushed if it doesn't work. That said we'll take any

improvement.

We are in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. Any other Canadians out

there?

Wish us luck and I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for being here.

Kathleen,

Welcome! I am so sorry for what you and your son are going

through. But I do think you have found the right place! This group

and keto have been my (and my daughter's) saving grace! Keto is

tough at first, and we have certainly wondered at times whether it

was worth it, but I can tell you without a doubt that it is. We

don't have perfect seizure control YET but my daughter is now off of

all seizure meds, developing faster than ever before, and HAPPY AND

having less seizures than she ever did on all the meds. We didn't

get immediate success and I was disheartened at first, but there are

many of us on here that can tell you that perseverence with this

diet is the way to go! Hang in there and know that we are all here

for you!! I really hope that this is the answer you have been

looking for!

, mom to Langan, 23 months old and keto kid since 11/03; med

free since 4/2/04, still working on those seizures and fighting a

nasty case of acidosis

Kathleen,

SO sorry to hear about your little ones troubles. We recently started the diet

ourselves (april 26th) and I totally understand you hanging you hat on it so to

speak. Just remember, it might take a little time but you'll get there. Luck to

you and yours.

Hi Kathleen, welcome to the group. I'm in , British Columbia

and this group is very helpful. You will get lots of great advice.

My daughter Kristan is not totally seizure free yet but for about the

last 1.5 months her seizures are down to 1-3 a day and even has days

with no seizures and she's been on the diet since August 2003. This

is the best she has ever done! I was expecting immediate results too

when we first started the diet, but you have to have patience and

stick with it and it will be worth it.

I hope the diet is a success for your son.

Satnam, mom to Kristan, 18 months

Keto kid since August 2003
