Guest guest
I can't remember if I was taught that reoccurrence is not a word or if I just heard it on this list before or what, but at any rate, I only use recurrence also. However, Margaret got me thinking about whether it is a word. It's true that there is not a word reoccurrent that could then be changed to reoccurrence, but there is a word occurrence for when something occurs the first time, right? So if it happens again, wouldn't it be a reoccurrence? Hmmmm.... LOL! Anyway, I still only use recurrence. ) Joy ----Original Message Follows---- To: , <NMTC > Subject: Re: reoccurrence or recurrence Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 17:12:55 -0500 Tracey, I have a very old (1979) Webster's which doesn't have the word reoccurrence in it at all, just has recurrence. Also, I am currently typing a sentence in which the doc says recurrent, which got me to thinking that there is not a word reoccurrent, so why is there a word reoccurrence. Then again, I think I am usually wrong on this one, but I prefer recurrence to reoccurrence. Margaret >>> " Tracey 01/16/03 04:51PM >>> Would you say these are the same and either can be used?
