Guest guest
Interpreters also have a code of ethics they must adhere to. Many of us on the list belong to another list you can reach via the ASDC website called " PARENTDEAF HH " . It is not really moderated and sometimes the conversations can get a little heated, but there are many many knowledgeable people on there who can help you...in fact if you join that group and pose your question, I am sure you will get some responses with those knowledgable in interpreter issues - since there are some terps on the list. http://www.deafchildren.org I have to admit I laughed to myself when the SPED director (at the local district in PA) told me that I can bring Hayley in for her IEP and I could interpret for her. I would think she would know, but she just didn't. She wanted the " intermediate unit " person to interpret for Hayley also - I dont think I am comfortable with that either I want to make sure we get an interpreter with no sense of bias regardless of their code of ethics. >From: scampb5027@... >Reply-To: Listen-Up >To: Listen-Up >Subject: Re: Interpreter for parent support group meeting >Date: Wed, 20 Oct 2004 01:39:35 +0000 > >, > >Good point....I didn't think of that.
