Guest guest
Dear , You are so lucky to get pregnant without even trying! I think you will be okay since you are eleven months out from surgery. The rate of malabsorption depends on what type of obesity surgery you have had. I had the proximal open roux ny. Therefore, I only have slight malabsorption. If you have the distal roux ny, you will have greater malabsorption, and I would have no idea of how many more supplements someone with a distal bypass would need. I will tell you what I take every day. I take Trinsicon (the prescription iron supplement with b, c, and intrinsic stomach factor,) a Centrum, TWO B vitamin comlex capsules, a chewable prenatal vitamin, flax seed oil, garlic, vitamin e, and calcium citrate. I take the two b vitamin complex capsules shortly after my Trinsicon (upon awakening) in order to maximize absorption. I take the calcium citrate at night to help me sleep, (and it works!) In addition, I took all these supplements before I was pregnant--except the chewable prenatal. The B complex capsules are critical since they contain folic acid and we malabsorp folic acid. Folic acid aids in preventing neural tube defects such as spina bifida, and it is early on when you need it most. By the way, I also eat two eggs daily which is now recommended for all pregnant women. The choline in egg yolks is excellent for brain development. Be sure to limit your consumption of fish since the mercury can cause problems with brain development. I know that the fatty oils in fish are also excellent for brain development. However, that is why I take flax seed oil (which is just as good for brain development) as the fatty oil in tuna and other fish.
