Guest guest
Hello Meleese here back again after a longgg time .I have lurked for so long, where to start. I posted this a few days ago but it obviously got "lost"OK my marriage broke up 17 months ago, and this damned disease was a contributing factor. I was caringfor my mum if you remember, which I did up until her death on October 22,2003 (looking back don't know how I managed). 6 months ago, I sold our houseand bought this new one so also a move in there. My husband just got up onemorning and walked out without warning. Somehow I managed (once again) topack up the entire house myself (and believe me it was a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeplace, with remnants from the 3 children as well) sell it and move.So I am sitting here exhausted.A couple of years ago I tried the Australian equivalent of Armour (they justcall it natural desiccated thyroid) best I could do was a chemist inAdelaide(I am in South Australia) who made up time release so I was on 180mgs (or is it mcgs)??? felt great for a short time then next lot of bloodsmy TSH had shot up 6 and can't remember what my free's were and I feltawful, so back now on thyroxine 300 mcgs.I had bloods done a couple of months ago. They were fasting ones as when Ihave them done, I also have a whole heap of other stuff done like glucoselevels/cholesterol etc. Unfortunately I had taken my meds not long priorwhich may have skew-wiffed my readings but here they areTSH < 0.05 (0.5-3.7)Free T4 19 pmol/L (10-25)Free T3 5.3 pmol/L (3.1-5.4)The clinical notes from the lab suggested I was on too high a dose, but as Ihad just taken my meds, that may have skewed the readings. Also, wouldfasting have an effect??I am about to bite the bullet and go see a doc recommended on Shomon'ssite. I was also given his name by a well-known doctor here in Australia. Iwent to a seminar of hers and we lined up briefly after and I got about 2minutes with her to tell her I was hypothyroid. I am hoping he can work withme on this. I have since found a chemist in Sydney who makes up 1 graindoses of Armour which might be preferrrable than the time released ones. With my free T3 looking so good (yes I know I should go on how I feel!)would it be advantageous to decrease my T4 dose and add T3 ??? That ispresuming I don't give Armour another trial ?? (struggle just a little bitwith that, had a hypo person tell me it was bad karma to take it ......sheis a vegan)OK will leave it there and throw it out for what it's worth. fatigue andbrain fog are my companions and I really hope this new doc will get workingwith me on my adrenals, my usual doc won't touch thatAlso I have a "choking" feeling , feeling of difficultytaking a breath, lie down to sleep at night and feel like I'mchoking.......mentioned it to my doc who said it was hayfever(!!!!).......yes I know, I know, off to the new doc, is it possible todevelop a goitre after so long??(diagnosed hypo/Hashi's November 1994,ultrasound revealed no goitre/nodules.)...........Meleese xxxx
Guest guest
I remember responding to this, wonder where it went ? The choking feeling is one of the signs of an enlarged thyroid. Even a thyroid that is enlarging, has to get to a certain size before a doc can feel it from palpating. I advise you to take the choking feeling seriously and find someone who will get your thyroid imaged. Even blood levels do not accurately report if a thyroid is growing or not. My lobes were humongous, and blood levels were still coming back normal. Just 2 very small parts still working and churning out thyroid hormone. I had part of one lobe that was turning to mush, literally, as it was dead, starting the process of getting incorporated into the body. And blood levels came back normal, and it couldn't be detected my palpating till it got to that state. Docs will probably give you a statistic on how many enlarged thyroids still function, aren't cancer etc. Don't be assuaged by that. Get it imaged, then see what drs dx. Thyroid's aren't supposed to grow, and are doing so only cuz something's wrong. jane > > Hello Meleese here back again after a longgg time .I have lurked for so > long, where to start.
