Guest guest
Synagis is the RSV vaccine. Evan gets it too (as do probably most of the babies on this list-serve). I don't remember weight loss being mentioned as a side effect, but then other than injection site reaction and possible anaphylaxis--I don't remember any other adverse effects. I'm afraid I'm not much help in the weight loss area. Evan has a g-tube, so we just plug him in and turn the pump on and do not have to worry about what he takes orally. I can't remember if you guys were considering a g-tube for Carmen??? It was a difficult decision for me, because I didn't want Evan to have to have one, but I'm sure that's the only reason he has put on the weight he has. I told myself that it is just temporary. I still don't like it, but I am so glad we did it--I have absolutely no regrets. Prior to the g-tube installation, Evan was already an expert at removing his own NG, OG, OJ, and NJ tubes. Given his present swallowing levels, oral feeding is not an option. We have an ex 28-weeker (no other issues) who lives across the street from us. She is 19 months now, 16 months adjusted. She does not have a feeding tube and is not a big eater. She has gained weight very slowly (Evan outweighs her now).
