Guest guest
, My daughter is 22 months old and we found out when she was about 17 months old that she was deaf. She has the same type of loss that your daughter has. Her's runs about 75-85 in her left ear and non measurable in her right ear. Anyhow, the biggest thing that has helped us keep Tessa's aid in was wig tape. We bought it at a wig store in the mall. It's basically the same thing as double-sided tape, but it's much stronger. I would cut a piece off and attach it to the side of her aid and then put her aid on and push the other side of the tape onto the side of her head (behind her ear). It worked very well and kept her from pulling her aid out so often (she still did get it sometimes). She still pulls it out 4 or 5 times a day, I'd say, but not so often as before. Also, when she sees her little hearing aid box, she takes it out and puts it in there. When we tell her it's sleep time, she will take her aid out and put it in it's " sleep drawer. " We sign these things to her, because she hasn't gotten a hold of speaking yet, but we are getting there. She babbles and " talks " to herself more now than ever before. Also, with the aid, I was very vigilant about putting it back in as soon as she took it out in the beginning, however, now when she takes it out, I think she might need a break from it, so I'll leave it out for 10 or 15 minutes and then put it back in. That's just our experience. Sara > >Reply-To: Listen-Up >To: Listen-Up >Subject: Re: introduction >Date: Mon, 23 Aug 2004 00:50:25 -0000 > >Yes she has had an ABR in April.
