Guest guest
Hi folks, Woke up this morning with AFIB. I decided to sit for a few before rushing to the ER. I self converted after 45 minutes. This is my 4th episode so far. My first and second I went to the ER. My 3rd lasted 1 minute. Today for 45 minutes. Episodes closer together, but shorter. I see my EP next week... I am only on Cardizem at the moment. About 5 minutes after I coverted, my 12 year old son woke up with terrible stomach pains and throwing up, no fever. He had this one week ago - we called nurse practioner line and she suggested stomach flu. We treated at home as such. BUT, a week later (this morning), same symptoms. Could it really be the stomach flu 2x in a week????? We're going to take him into the doctor's office (they open in about 30 minutes) to make sure it isn't something more serious (stomach obstruction? appendix?). I'm so happy I converted (even though I'm really upset by what this might mean for treatment... I don't want to go on rhythm control at age 37...). And now I'm off to the doctor office with my son... A bit stressed, thanks for listening. Joscelyn

I self converted after 45 minutes. Joscelyn, I hope your son is okay, please let us know. You probably won't like this comparison :-) but when my elderly cats were sick, I just sucked it up and went to the vet's office, gave them meds, etc., despite my heart going nuts. Not the time to focus on my own heart. If you are popping out of afib in a short time, I think you probably don't need to go to the ER, many of us don't, but check with your doc about that.
