I should have known this was coming, but with Langan's energy level

and happiness level so high, I was taken by surprise. She went 28

days without seizures and then BAM three in 9 days. We did a bicarb

and some other testing today- and her bicarbs are back down to TEN.

Ugh. I don't know what to do. She has been drinking better,

although she did have a few days in the last few weeks where she was

below the daily amount we wanted but not much. She is eating like a

champ. We are giving her enough sodium bicarb to DROWN her.... I

am so scared that the neuro is going to get these results tomorrow

and say we have to pull her off of keto. This bicarb battle has

been a nightmare. BUT she is off all meds and doing so much more

and I really don't want to go back to the meds. I really don't.

But I also don't want her to be in danger. Ugh. And on top of all

of that, what on earth could be going on here???? It has to be

something metabolic, right? But what? I am so sad about this.

Keto has been our miracle and now I am worried it'll be out of

reach. = (

Sorry to vent. One of those days....

, mom to Langan, 22 months old and keto kid since 11/03; med

free since 4/2/04, if only we could get these bicarbs straightened

out....

Hi ,

Your posting made me so sad. You've been so couragous and

inspirational to me, and Langan has been doing so well off meds. I

wish I had answers to your questions about Langan's low bicarbs. I

was hoping the increased fluid intake would keep them high. I

think Dr. Holder will do everything she can to keep Langan on the

diet. We're all pulling for you two. Take a deep breath. My

prayers are with you.
