Guest guest
For anyone who makes the cheesecrisps (basically just a chunk of cheese melted in the microwave until crisp)--do you weigh before or after nuking them? I've been making this since starting the diet almost a year ago (can't believe it's been that long!), but when I melted some cheese in a pan to make a " tostada " a few weeks ago for the first time, for some reason I weighed it (oh, I know why, I was adding the rest of the ingredients to the top of it)....anyhoo, the uncooked weight of 8.0 gm was now down to less than 5.0 gm. My ketoteam mulled this over and told me to weigh after cooking. Their reasoning was it like meat, which we measure after cooking, and it was all water content that was being lost. Well, when I did this, it took nearly 17.0 gm of uncooked cheese to equal 8.0 gm nuked. Naturally, I didn't give that much. I've been putting just the 8.0 gm in the microwave in a small tupperware-type container instead of a cutting board (I used to scrape every bit of what didn't get crisp off with a spatual for to lick)-- there's very little excess this way, but the weight is still much less. Anyway...just wondered what others do, as this is one of 's favorite snacks. Thanks, Barbara
Guest guest
For what it's worth, my keto team said to weigh it BEFORE cooking b/c the weights are meant for the cheese with the water content. It did seem like it would be a ton of cheese otherwise, so I have gone with their recommendation. Good luck! , mom to Langan > For anyone who makes the cheesecrisps (basically just a chunk of cheese > melted in the microwave until crisp)--do you weigh before or after > nuking them?
