Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear about your friends baby, and your baby that was stillborn. I don't think there is anything to really worry about, but talk to your doctor so he/she can give you peace of mind. I was told that most babies dont even get sick from a mom who tests positive for Strep B, but obviously if there is a concern at ALL, we as mommies are going to worry about it. I know you and baby will be fine, but go ahead and talk to your doctor, I am sure you will feel better after. Best of luck to you, you are almost there!!! Marcy Strep B Hi, I am 37 weeks pregnant, and I am positive for Group Strep B. I know that 30 % of woman are, but I am nervous. My girlfriends son died of late onset Spinal Meningitis at 4 weeks old in 99'. She was treated properly, with anitibiotics. I understand that 2 in 100 babies will get the infection regardless of treatment, but 5% suffer life threatening symptoms. I hate to be depressing ladies, but I am so scared, our first baby was stillborn in 1998. I think things will be fine, but I just need some moral support. Thanks in advance! EDD 1-20-03 it's a boy! Guest guest
Thank-you Marcy, I know as Mom's are going to be concerned about everything. My OB isn't worried at all, I think it especially scares me because of my friends baby boy. Thanks for words of encouragement and luck! Guest guest
Thanks Shonda, I am most likely having a repeat cesearian, my OB stated that as long as my bag of water doesn't break before the section I won't need the antibiotics. I want them anyways...Thanks!
Guest guest
.. My first I was diagnosed with Group B strep and was treated with antibiotics.. with my second I was treated because of a previous positive. Both were very healthy and happy. Its rare that anything does happen and that is why its important to stay 48 hrs after birth. Take care and try not to worry Im sure everything will be fine. Guest guest
With my last I had to have an IV drip of antibiotics (and will with this one) cuz of mitral valve prolapse.. not uncommon. Good luck with your delivery!
