One would assume that there would be a set list of precautions for all patients receiving a specified dose of radioiodine...but that does not seem to be the case. Hi, - I agree that inconsistencies and conflicting advice are extremely stressful, and it's all exacerbated by the emotional stress of dealing with cancer, compounded by being hypo and concern for our families and loved ones. I agree with you; it would seem like a no brainer for someone, somewhere, to come up with a set of specific precautions necessary for specific levels of RAI ingestion. I'm not sure why it's not the case (although I do have some nasty theories). Fortunately, we have the advice and guidance of Ian and the doctors, who can help us sort out our own requirements. I'm sure that the precautions I take after an RAI treatment would be considered by most to be overkill, but since I can't see, smell, taste or feel the radiation, I feel more comfortable being more conservative. good luck to us all - NYC
