Thyroid eye disease

Hi all

Thanks Topper, , Kats3boys and others for responding to my

concerns. Unless you have experienced this awful eye disease, you

can't imagine how uncomfortable it really is - every day it is the

same. It never seems to lessen enough to not be a part of my daily

life - sore, dry, unfocused eyes. I also have that

typical " staring " appearance. My doctor has measured my eyes and

continues to every time I see him. I have also seen a

rheumatologist - had inflammatory tests done at my family dr. and

shows " connective tissue disorder " . The rheum dr. examined me, but

didn't offer anything for my condition unfortunately. I see him in

a few weeks again - but.....not really expecting any changes. I

will look into the graves support group, as this condition is a

result of the treatment for graves - you mentioned Topper that

having the radioiodine may have helped with my hyper state, but it

certainly caused the " antibodies " to go elsewhere - my eyes. Good

point! Also I am now considered " hypo " because my thyroid does not

work at all - so I will take levothyroxine for the rest of my life.

Thanks again for everyone's input - I will try the graves support

site and see if there are others who may be going through the same

thing as me in terms of the eye disease. But will continue to try

to get info from this site as well. All the best to everyone. Barb
