Guest guest
TADAH!!! High Cholesterol is an indicator of low thyroid.. you just PROVED it AGAIN! If it were me... I'd hold the Armour at the same dose and add some iron to bring that ferritin level up..that will help a bit more with how your body uses the thyroid hormones and with oxygenation (which might affect pulse)...and other stuff.... You, my friend, are now at the polishing stage... the final little tweaks to keep you going.... and keeping an eye open to see if adjustments need to be made down the road.... Things change as we age.... no big deal.. you know what to watch for... You just made my day!!! Guest guest
Wow, that's great! Thyroid problems can cause the cholesterol to go up, and once you get the thyroid levels in good ranges again, your cholesterol should drop...so way to go! I'll wait a few more months and have mine checked again...mine was just barely over the top, at 209, so maybe it's good again. Way to go Misty! andrea Topper! Guest guest
WTG Misty! I have high total cholesterol too (about 280) and I too have been threatened with statins. I've kept my doc at bay about these, because my ratios are good and my HDL so good it's off the scale. Trigs are very low too. But it would be soooo nice to get my doc off my back about my cholesterol numbers ... I am HOPING Armour will do that for me too! I have a question, though. Does anybody know the exact mechanism that makes low thyroid cause high cholesterol? As cholesterol is the precursor to many hormones, I can see that it might be a blockage of some sort along the enzyme/hormone route - or perhaps the body is releasing extra cholesterol to repair the damage done to the systems/cells through hypothyroid?
