Guest guest
Hello. My name is Lissa. I'm the mother of four children ages 9, 6, 3, and 10 months. We have recently learned that the baby has mild hearing loss in both ears. (He also has neurological abnormality and motor function delay.) He has an appt in two weeks to have ear molds made, and the audi said it takes three weeks after that for the hearing aids to come in. In the meantime we are trying to educate ourselves about the various options for hearing aids. I'm happy to have found this group--I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you. Thanks, Lissa in Virginia
Guest guest
Katy,Welcome to the group!A bunch of us read that book last summer and had a little discussion group of sorts going. It's really wonderful, isn't it? I'm glad you found us. This is a great place to get support. Have you read the Intuitive Eating book? It's really great, and has lots of concrete suggestions. I look forward to hearing more about how your IE journey is going. Best,AbbyIE since 11/08 Hi All,I'm Katy and am 39 yrs old weighing over 300 lbs. For years I've tried every diet under the sun and every time have gotten frustrated and angry and ended up eating more. Then last year I read a book called, " When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies. " It has changed my life. The book stresses that diets don't work, that the key is learning to listen to your body and eat when hungry and stop when full. This made more sense to me that all other diet advice combined. However, reading it and doing it are two different things. I searched for a group like this in order to hear others ideas on how to implement this process. I've tried it a bit, but often end up paying more attention to my emotions that my body. I also am pretty good at waiting till hungry to start eating, but have trouble stopping when full. So any practical suggestions that have helped you be successful would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Katy (aka LorienWillow)

Guest guest
Hi Katy, One thing that I'm working on is knowing "how full is full enough." I'm going between not quite full enough and a little too full, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I'm paying attention to what my body is telling me, and that's something I haven't done enough of for a long time. I think eventually I'll figure out what works most of the time. Right now I'm trying to eat until I'm *less* hungry, and then waiting a bit to see if I still need to eat more. I'm finding that it takes a while after I eat something to start feeling full, and if I keep eating I'll be *too* full. This especially seems to be true if I eat things like vegetables or fruit. I also find that things start tasting less good as I get full. Jeannie LorienWillow wrote: Hi All, I'm Katy and am 39 yrs old weighing over 300 lbs.
