Hi Delia,

I had my TT on 9/23 at Emerson Hospital out in Concord. My Endo, Dr. Burtis,

sending me into Mass General for RAI. He is referring me to a Dr.

s, whom I have heard good things about.

Who are you seeing? I was very happy with the care I received at Emerson.

hello all

I was diagnosed about three weeks ago with papillary cancer, from the

pathology report they say its 2cm, and that there are signs of

Hashimoto's. I needed a physical for my new job and my Primary Care

Dr found the nodule, I had a biopsy the next week. The first

endocrinologist I tried to get an appointment with said that he

didn't even want to see me until January. My mother go in touch with

one of my aunts who is an ob/gyn and my aunt got me in touch with a

endocrine surgeon at Mass General. I met with him on Friday, after a

day of no sleep, because my mother had fallen down the stairs and

broken her ankle in three places. As of right now my " TT " is

scheduled for October 30th. I've been reading a lot, so I know at

some level I really will be ok, but I's still nervous and scared. I

was really happy to find this group, because I need to talk to people

very supportive, but they haven't been through it. Thanks

  • 7 years later...

I have a weird situation, I was diagnosed with anxiety/depression for 8 years

when last april I had a rash and the doctor gave me 40 mg prednisone. I felt

normal for the first time in years and saw myself the way I used to be with

energy and emotions. I'm pretty sure I was also having a thyroid dump though as

well, but I was too pumped to care because I had energy and my brain felt like

it was " on " again.

I researched and found cortisol and thyroid websites that led me to get tested

for AF. I have and now have been tested and confirmed. My thyroid hormones were

within range and I am on a plethora of pills from my doctor who's specialty is

supposed to be AF. He has me on 10mg slow release cortisol in a.m. with 30 mg

pregnenalone in a.m. I am taking an adrenal supplement called adrenatone plus 3x

day. Some chrysine, vit d3 and other vitamins 2x a day. The regular cortef he

has me dosing 2.5 mg in morning, 2.5 mg at noon, and if I need it 2.5 mg

afternoon.

I have been on this dosing for a little over 2 weeks with a very small

improvement. My joints are feeling a bit better, but I'm not getting the

emotions that I am expecting, I don't expect the intensity of the thyroid dump,

but I feel if my thyroid hormones are activating then I should feel that as

well. I'm wondering if my body is taking all the cortisol and putting it in

reserve instead of using it right now because I'm just not feeling it like I

think I should. I have taken up to four of the 5mg cortef's all at the same time

and only feel a little tiny bit better for just a short while. Every oncee in a

while I look around and can feel the brain fog lifting and everything looks

sharper, but it doesn't last any more than a few minutes. I just want my brain

back on, I miss my head.

Here are my lab results, I thought the Rt3 dominance could be likely because I

have low Ft3 for my age, and the rt3 was towards the top range. Before I had AF,

eight years ago, I was described as the most energetic person amongst my peers,

and have always been that way. I'm only 26 now, and would like to get all my

energy back. Thanks for the help.:-)

Ft3 2.9 pg/mL range 1.8-4.2

Ft4 1.1 ng/dL range .46-1.42

TSH 1.34 miU/mL .34-4.82

Reverse T3 240 pg/mL 90-350

I get a ratio of 1.2

But I don't know whether this is high or low. Also I've been sitting on my butt

doing nothing waiting to get better. Is lite exercise going to get my blood

pumping and possibly pump some of the cortisol and hormones through my body or

what?

The adrenatone plus has siberianginseng, american ginseng, ashwaganda, rhodiola

rosea, and licorice root.

Respectively they are at 250 mg, 100, 100, 100, and 20mg. There is alsovit c,

b2, b6, pantothenic acid, and n-acetyl l-tyrosine.

Ok thanks for the help. I just posted information on the adrenal discussion

group about how I thought I wasn't on enough cortisol so I took more, a

combination of prednisone and HC which equates to 60 mg of HC all before 10 am.

They proceeded to bite my head off, which it was stupid I'll admit. I still

didn't feel it really, and I take it with HCL, is my body storing the cortisol

to build my reserves, or does it take this long for some people? I am 26 and

remember the start of AF when I was just out of highschool, I was doing alot of

parying then and remember thinking I was going crazy from what I realize now was

high cortisol levels causing panic attacks. I don't really feel that different

after taking it, I feel a little bit better each day but don't get the energy

that people talk about like when they say they know they have to take another

pill because their' cortisol has run out. I will just wait, I was hoping to get

better and be able to start school here in a couple weeks and have my brain

functioning better. I just want to get better and don't know which way to go

really.

My doctor's specialty is adrenal fatigue and he has been treating people with

cortef for 15 years, but he didn't know what Rt3 was when I asked for it to be

tested so I dunno. People are telling me here that the protocal he has me on

isn't right, and I really feel like alot of the people on these discussion

boards know how to do this. I've been sick for so long I really don't remember

what normal feels like. All I know is when that doctor gave me that 40 mg

prednisone last april I saw some part of me that has been gone for quite a

while. Was it the thyroid hormones being distributed, or the cortisol? I am real

worried about my health and want to get better before I decline any further.

I'll do whatever you deem fit and follow it. Also when the adrenals are adressed

is it possible that my labs for thyroid will change, like could I have normal

lab results now and then the cortisol expose thyroid problems later?

Thanks for the help.
