Guest guest
Don't worry, it will all be fine! The first week was the hardest for us and then it got so much easier. My son did start having problems sleeping. But after about a week I was learning to dress him in less clothing at night and to keep our house cooler - that helped! He also started sleeping on his side or tummy and that really helped too! During the first week I thought " these 12 weeks in the helmet are going to be terrible " , BUT then things really improved. My son sleeps all night again now and really doesn't mind the helmet at all. These babies are so adaptable....they can tolerate so much more than we would be able to!! Hang in there! , mom to Jake, 10 months Michigan plagio/starband > Has anyones' child have a hard time getting used to their band? I > getting nervous about Briley getting her band. Guest guest
I was worried about it too. My son is a pretty easy going kid -- really doesn't cry a lot and not fussy. But hates anything on his head. (I am so spoiled ... and probably means the next one is going to be a holy terror!). Well he made the adjustment just fine. He had a cold when we first got it so I don't know if the waking up in the night was because of that or the helmet. But last night we slept through the night except to cry once because he was cold. And we have only had it on a week today. He was fussy the first couple of times of putting it on and a little bit of figuring out how to move his head with the extra weight. Other than that, it went fine. And now when we take it off, he watches where his helmet goes while I clean it and tries to grab for it. The biggest adjustment is the clothing issue. But I am a so happy we did it because he, at 4 months, is rolling both ways now. That alone makes me feel like we made the right decision to band. --- s_rad1 <s_radlinski@...> wrote: > Don't worry, it will all be fine! Guest guest
Kids are funny, my son would never wear a hat yet he loved his band. You might be surprised how easy it is. I'm sure everything will be great! Natasha Atlanta, GA > Has anyones' child have a hard time getting used to their band? I > getting nervous about Briley getting her band. Guest guest
I know exactly what you are feeling. I have to tell you that When was a younger, she HATED (with a capital H) hats! If I put one on her, she would fuss, scream, cry etc. So, I was also worried about the whole banding thing, thinking that my sweet, happy little baby would be miserable in her band. But, when we went for the fitting, they put the band on her, she fussed for maybe 30 seconds and then she acted as if it had been on her all along. Some babies do take a little longer to adjust to it, but for the most part, after the first day or so I think that most kids are so used to the band that they hardly even notice it's there. would actually get excited after her bath and any other breaks from the band when I would walk towards her with it to put it on her. LOL! And she would yell and feel her head a lot if I took it off. It's pretty amazing how well babies adapt to things. After graduated, for the next week or so she was constantly reaching up and rubbing and touching her head, as if she new something was missing. Hang in there... after the adjustment period, I'm sure that she will be just fine. Guest guest
Thanks for all the advice! I'm sure she will be fine too, it's just a lot at once and I feel bad that she has to wear it in the first place! --- Jen <ronandjenvelez@...> wrote: > I know exactly what you are feeling. Guest guest
Hey , Brady didn't have any problems at all with adjusting to his helmet! I had the same fears you did, thinking he wouldn't be able to sleep or will it bother him, but the day he got it, he slept for over 1 hr in his car seat until we got home from the doc's office. He never flinched once when they put it on his head! It will be fine. You will be so surprised at how well she will adjust. We had gone to the beach a week before he got his helmet and I tried keeping hats on him so his head wouldn't get sun, he kept taking it off, I thought, oh no, this will be awful, but he hasn't minded it at all! Good luck, Lauri > Has anyones' child have a hard time getting used to their band? I > getting nervous about Briley getting her band. I have a feeling I will > have a lot of sleepless nights. Guest guest
, Sophie did awesome adjusting to her band. We had her in it 23 hours by the 2nd day! She slept great. It's amazing how much a baby will adapt. I can honestly say it's been harder on me than her. Good luck!
