Hi barb;

I recently posted this info on my HS class website, in response to a

request from one of my classmates.

Currently, all knee replacements still have some plastic components

and thus some wear issues. Still, it's never to early to get info

about anatomy and alternatives. Knee replacement is still a wait

until you can't get around type of situation,

Here are some good websites with basic information and more

regarding knee replacement surgery. If the URL does't work, print

this note out. You may have to copy the link into your browser.

Los Angeles - Joint Replacement Institute Their website has lots of

excellent information.

NIH Website

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002974.htm

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS – Joint replacement

in

general. look around the site for knee links.

medical technology- A manufacturer of one group of prosthetic

knees

Another medical information site.

If you have any questions, you can email me personally.

One support site is run by a nice person named Robin.

She had two knees done and works for the Arthritis Foundation in Louisiana.

Barb,

I have a worry about my knees too but they seem to be hanging in

there for the time being. I still haven't broken down and had them

looked at. Don't want to know what I already know. :)

Anyway, I've been to the site that suggested and also the

following chat room for knees.

http://forums.delphiforums.com/onourfeet/messages/?

I was also given very good advice to get the quads and hamstrings

well strengthen. So I am diligently working on those weight

machines. It's the same principle as before hip surgery; keep it as

strong and flexible as possible so that recovery will be more rapid.

Bummer, no? Hope you can get over the immediate trouble and won't

need knee surgery soon. You have to have time to enjoy the hips,

right?!!!!

Take care,

Trudy
