ADVANCE article and Adele update

Hi everyone . . . it's Adele's mom. Like a lot of others, I'm a

lurker/learner on this group site. :-) We were so excited about the

magazine and it was fun to see ourselves on the cover (Adele LOVES

having her photo taken). My neighbor is a therapists so she has

loaned us a copy.

I think ADVANCE is planning a second article on CHARGE and including

some personal stories, including Adele's. You guys will appreciate

that my interview was cut short because in the middle of talking to

the guy, Adele handed me her deflated Mic-key button so I pretty

much had to hang up immediately - whatta world :-).

As an update on Adele, she is doing super great on all fronts. Her

cochlear implant surgery was quite a saga - but all seems to be

going well. She is responding to therapy but it is going to be a

slow process. We remain very encouraged.

All of you are welcome to visit her website anytime. The info is

listed at the bottom. Other big news is that Adele will be a big

sister later this year. Jay and I are expecting baby #2 late Sept.

We have opted to do no testing for CHARGE (Adele has the mutation)

and are expecting everything to be fine. The pregnancy has already

been interesting - I had unexpected back surgery at 14 weeks. The

docs told me not to worry since the baby's fingers and toes were

already formed - I joked that we didn't care so much about fingers

and toes - but all 12 cranial nerves would be nice - ha!!!!

I know I don't write a lot - but I gain encouragement and valuable

knowledge from all of you. Thanks so much.
