Guest guest
I was diagnosed with multi-nodular goiter 10 years ago. My thyroid is enlarged but not so much to need surgery yet. I was prescribed thyroxine to " shrink it " the doctor said then. I took some but the side effects were so bad that I stopped taking it. I took aleve for the pain in my neck and after a few months I just let it go. I didn't know until recently that it should not be left untreated. Now, I've had a total hysterctomy due to cervical cancer and am going through surgical menopause. I'm 3 weeks post op, haven't started on HRT yet and I'm having a lot of problems with all the hormone deficiency. My thyroid has gone crazy and my neck pain has come roaring back. All the doctor's offices are closed until Jan 3rd. I'm afraid more of my thyroid than anything. Is there anyone here who has a goiter or an enlarged thyroid? Do you feel pain? What has been done to treat it besides thyroxine?
