Guest guest
Jill, I defer all questions regarding tests, meds etc to my dietician who is also a PhD in Nutrition. She is always standing by during these tests and after to moniter any need for changes in her diet. PET scan Hi is due to have a PET scan in a few weeks time. As this involves the intravenous administration of a radioactive isotope in a glucose I wonder if anyone knows if this is likely to interfere with the action of the diet, or if being on the diet could interfere with the results. Many thanks Jill " The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last resort! " List is for parent to parent support only. Guest guest
It has NOT interfered w/ Jake's seizure control or diet mechanism. However, I understand that it CAN cause the data to be inaccurate, but I've never gotten a very solid answer on that one. Jake's had two PETS, on the diet, but both inconclusive. Harry Chugani, a neuro in Michigan, uses his own " non-glucose " tracer, but as far as I know, he used to NOT do PETS for kids on the diet. Not sure where he stands on that one now.
