In my opinion, Baudhuin was a life changing experience. It did not only help my son . It also offered me alot of support and trainings and which can range from behaviors to IEPs. I had my older son there for 3 years and it was a great experience.

My younger daughter is in a Place program at our home school, which has been good, but has NOT provided me with all the support and trainings that I received at Baudhuin.

I think that when alot of us start this journey into preschool we do not know what to expect and or demand.

Sadly, without knowledge that I acquired with my sons experience at Baudhuin(which is not limited to school, other parents, CARD, ARC)........... I think my daughters experience would have been alot different and I probably would not have known what to demand from the school.

I have seen it all the time, parents that are like deer in headlights at the preschool level, because of the lack of support and information.

There are many good teachers at the home schools . Do your research, and make sure that you are happy and remember that there are other choices as well.

My daughter got ESY at at a Broward School for 5 weeks June 29-July 31st, Fridays off. What doesn't make sense to me that the schools were still open on Fridays with summer camps so the excuse to save money on not opening schools on Friday is bogus.

My daughter got ESY at at a Broward School for 5 weeks June 29-July 31st, Fridays off. What doesn't make sense to me that the schools were still open on Fridays with summer camps so the excuse to save money on not opening schools on Friday is bogus.

I didn't want ESY to be his first experience in a school environment, not to

take.

I know of other families that their kids got more than four weeks of ESY this

past summer, and their kids don't go to Baudhuin.

I hate to say this but once your kids reach elementary school your summer options will be worse. The public schools offer NO extra days aside from whatever ESY your child qualifies. Plus their summer program is not runned as nicely as Bauduin. At that point you will most likely have to look for a summer camp or program that runs for most of the summer and in most cases it will be expensive though some offer limited financial assistance. I believe the district offered 4 and 5 week sessions. But did Baudhuin offer more weeks? Heifferon

My youngest was also offered five weeks (with Fridays off- I don't think there was a Broward school that didn't get this)of ESY this past summer, and he wasn't placed at Baudhuin. In his particular case, we decided not to go for it, because I didn't want ESY to be his first experience in a school environment, not to mention the school he was assigned for the ESY wasn't even his assigned school for the fall.
