Guest guest
Hi, My husband is also 36, and was recently diagnosed with Lone A-fib (no cause). He has episodes about 1 x per week but only for a minute or so. We live in the Boston area, and for me, as soon as the cardiologist told him that he had an arrythmia that is less common in young people, we were going to Boston to get a second opinion with an EP. My feeling is this. An electrophysiologist concentrates on arrythmias, and my husband has an arrythmia. So why go to someone who has a broader area of knowledge. We wanted him to see people who deal with nothing by this day in and day out. Especially, IMO, when you are so young. As for the aspirin, there is no harm in taking an adult aspirin (as was said as long as you don't have stomach ulcers)...many people take them. The general population of EP's seem to agree that you have to be in afib for 24-48 hours for a clot to form. My EP also agrees, but there are no conclusive studies to prove this. It is just believed to be true. You are young, and probably at less risk for stroke, so that's why your doctor said no to the aspirin...but again, can it really hurt? Ask him? Take care,
