Guest guest
Hi people, I had my PVI Procedure yesterday at a private clinic in London,UK. All I can say is how it affected me and the results ; everyone is different so I can only give you all the information that applies to me. I was hoping to have this procedure done under a General Anaesthetic but my EP on the day said " No " it has to be done under a " Local. " These are the drugs that were administered to me. 1. MIDAZOLAM - THAT IS A SEDATIVE. 2. DIAMORPHINE - THAT IS FOR THE PAIN 3. MAXALON - THAT IS TO STOP YOU FEELING SICK. Well the procedure lasted 4 hours. They had to work in the Right Atrium to ablate my " Flutter. " The EP moved to me Left Atrium to ablate The Fibrillation. I have to say that the pain I endured for those 4 hours was unbelievable. It has for this time traumatised me. I have never experienced such extreme agony. I was given as much DIAMORPHINE that could be allowed before it affected my breathing but at times it never touched that pain barrier. I know some people on this website have said it was a " piece of cake " but that was not my experience ! There you are. Has it worked, well, " YES IT HAS " but my EP said to allow 30 days before we really know. Would I have gone down this road now ? When I look back at the 21 years of my lost life through AF I guess I would still have undertaken this Procedure. I stll have to take FLECAINIDE and WARFARIN to give time for my heart to heal. At least 2 weeks my EP said.
