Guest guest
Hi Kats. I had 6 sticks in both sides with my biopsy. I win the Kleenex award ! My biopsy just hurt for a couple days, the pain comparable to a mild headache, or mild sore throat. It should clear up. I'm waiting on adrenal lab results cuz of a growth on an adrenal. Endo called me Wed with 2 of the results. First of all, I didn't expect him to call, I expected his Physician's Assitant. I was all ready to have to battle to get what I wanted. I asked if another imaging could be done to see if it's grown. He said yes. All my battle steam just had to fizzle out. I think I might like this guy ! My 2nd appt with him, when I had some thyroid knowledge under my belt, I asked if he tested the Free T's and if he took into consideration how I said I was feeling, not just the lab numbers. He said yes. If a desk hadn't been between us I might have hugged him ! Instead I shook his hand with a big smile. Ask what the actual words on the path report say, not just his summary of them. My doc's nurse called and said the biopsy was " suspicious. " The actual report said one side might be cancer, the other side benign. I would have worried less had I known the word " benign " was in there. Turned out cancer in both, but. So much for 6 sticks on each side in the biopsy. Them cancer buggers were doing a good job of hiding ! jane > > I had my Endo appointment today..at least he finally agrees > something is going on..just no idea what..and he had that idea > before I even opened my mouth so I did not have to beat it into him.. > > He says I do have antibodies to both Hashi's and Graves btu not > enough to be active but not 0 either..He also admits antibodies are > only positive in 80% of the patients..so he did 3 biopsies of my > thyroid..no nodules to biopsy just the thyroid..the first two were > fine but the third one hurt..think he hit a nerve..but he did not > want me coming back in to redo a biopsy because of an inconclusive > sample. > I only worked 1/2 a shift at work tonight and my neck hurt..hard to > bend down or move side to side..( ouchy) > > The Endo did give me a lab form for sometihng called a 24 hour urine > iodine test..unfortunately it is not available in BC..meaning I can > not get it done..he also wants me back to my allergist to see if I > ma allergic to Iodine? > > Now I just need to see what the biopsy says and if I can figure out > how to figure out the iodine thing..the Endo did warn me he was not > sure if the test was available as he has not ordered it in a long > time but I called him after to let him know and he is suppose to > inquire when he does hospital rounds..( they do a iodine test on > newborns with goiters) so now it is wait and see what happens, he > should contact with the iodine info, and says he will call when he > gets the pathology reports which should be about 5 days. > > Kats3boys

Guest guest
Did you have nodules in your thyroid? I have had two ultrasounds and although the goiter has increased in size there is no nodules? The Endo is actually hoping Hashi's shows up on the path report, if not then he thinks I may have some strange iodine problem going on, too much iodine? too little iodine? an autoimmune to iodine? either way at least he is willing to try and figure something out..says it may have something to do with the fact that I am allergic to MSG and Sulphites and confirmed I had an allergic reaction to PTU. Either way I have confused him but instead of telling me nothing is wrong he figures something is definitely wrong and wants to find out what..
