Guest guest
, My husband is a physician and we used to live in CA. I do not know the answer to your question about whether Kaiser will cover it or not, but let me tell you that Kaiser is all about saving money and not patient care so my guess is that they won't. Kaiser is known as " K-Mart medicine " . We have a friend who worked for them temporarily while in training and he has many horror stories. Some Kaiser docs get bonuses at the end of the year for saving money. Surgeons get those bonuses so oftentimes patients are thrown on life-long medication instead of surgery because it is cheaper. Someone we know had a bubble inside of him and the Kaiser surgeons told him that his heart could not be operated on due to weakness, but if the bubble would burst, he would die. My husband has a colleague at a prestigious institution who reviewed his records and had to argue the point with Kaiser for them to finally operate on him. With the salaries at Kaiser, lemme tellya, you aren't getting the top of the line doctors. Before I married, I thought all doctors knew all the same stuff and all were the same. Not so. --- In Plagiocephaly , " tylasmommy " <tylasmommy@y...> wrote: > Hello everyone, I am new here. Our little boy(Jaxon)is 11weeks old and > has Torticollis and Plagiocephaly. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. You can try calling and asking Kaiser, but I'm not sure if they'll be able to tell you w/out giving them your ID #, which you probably don't have yet. You could also try calling Cranial Tech and asking them what their experience w/that insurance has been. Another option would be to hurry and get it now with the insurance you currently have if they cover DOCbands. It is only billed once at casting in the full amount, so you wouldn't have to worry about the fact that you'd we switching over part way through treatment. Good luck! , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com --- In Plagiocephaly , " tylasmommy " <tylasmommy@y...> wrote: > Hello everyone, I am new here. Guest guest
Thanks for responding ! Oh my!!!:-O Now I am really worried about having Kaiser insurance:-( We have no choice though. I am no longer going to be working to be a stay at home mom so we have to switch to my husbands insurance. I just hope that by some miracle we get an incredible and caring doctor and that we can be the exception. Thank you so much for all the information. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear but it's good to know. I dont know what we will do if they wont cover treatment... Thanks, --- elisesmama <elisesmama@...> wrote: > , > > My husband is a physician and we used to live in CA. > I do not know the > answer to your question about whether Kaiser will > cover it or not, but > let me tell you that Kaiser is all about saving > money and not patient > care so my guess is that they won't. Guest guest
Hello, ! My son, , has had a DOC band for 12 weeks. (He is now 11 months.)Kaiser Permanente covered the entire cost of the helmet, except for a $10.00 co-pay for each visit for fittings. Kaiser originally wanted us to go to another specialist, but since the genetist sees at Children's Hospital in DC recommended the DOC band, we requested to use Cranial Technologies instead. I think the two things that have helped us get every specialist referral approved that we have requested are: sees a genetist who gives us letters of medical necessity and that Kaiser assigned us a pediatric case manager(thanks to the regular Kaiser pediatrician he sees)who helps us quickly get referrals for visits to other specialists. has other issues (skeletal dysplaysia, hypotonia) and receives physical therapy which Kaiser also pays for. He has seen at least ten specialists and five have been outside of Kaiser. We have been very satified with the treatment has received through Kaiser. (For myself, on the other hand...) I hope this helps. Robin Laybourne Sterling, VA --- In Plagiocephaly , " tylasmommy " <tylasmommy@y...> wrote: > Hello everyone, I am new here.
