oh no! Is there any way you could file for power of attorney? Could you

have a social worker assigned to him so that way they could make decisions

instead of her? Damn... should we find her and kick her in the A* & ?

This is why we went to court and CPS wanted no part of it. I'm so effing

hot that I want to call the stupid people up and say, " See, you stupid

A$$es, I told you so. "

What is with CPS? Why won't they do anything?

I am sorry, I don't know the entire story as to why Buster lives with you and

not his mom, and why you have custody and are not able to make these sorts of

decisions without her.

Could you please fill in the clueless here?

Debbi:

What a mess. I am so sorry that an irresponsible mother is hindering your

efforts to get the right help for her son.

It really seems as if there ought to be something you can do.

This is such a long story. had turned 18 when Buster was born

and was going to give him up for adoption. She changed her mind but was

out " boy chasing " and didn't have time for him, so I let him stay here.

We took care of him until he was 35 months. Then she showed up with the

police and claimed we kept him without authorization. So, we took her to

court as he has these special needs. CPS didn't see anything wrong with

how she was living or what she had done and they wanted out of the case.

She had made one appointment for him and they figured she was living up

to her obligation as a parent. Without a lawyer, we were pretty much

helpless in court, as neither CPS nor Buster's lawyer would help us. She

did not follow through on a lot of things and in Arizona you have 90

days to resolve a case like this. The appointment she made was for the

91st day. The fact that she lived in an apartment with maggots, etc,

didn't bother them at all. Anyway, she decided that he could once again

stay with us, while she supposedly gets her life together (again) and

here we are. I told her last week that she didnt have to come to this

appointment but I would need a power of attorney. " But I want to come. "

Well, now, he doesn't get a dx until she does something. I'm writing

this really quickly and have left out a lot, but I hope you've gotten

enough to understand.

Okay! I'm really hot! We went to take Buster to intake for his pdoc and

his mother had to be there. She talked to the doc's office Friday and

told us, she'd be there with required paperwork. She did not ask for a

ride and said she knew exactly where it was. So, did she show up??

NO!!!!!!!!! We can't do anything without her. I'm absolutely livid. Has

she called? No. Has her cell phone been disconnected so I can't call

her? Yes.

And on top of that Buster is now having stomache cramps and wakes up

whimpering. This has not been a good day.

Thanks! He's much better this morning. But his mother still hasn't

called. Do you think they've disconnected all the pay phones on the

southwest side of Tucson? There wasn't anything about it on the news.

(Insert sarcasm here).

Debbi, can you not get her for abandonment? What would happen if you called

the police and said his mother had left him there with you and had been gone

for however long and you'd had no contact with her?

But I suppose if she was gone until he was 35 months and CPS had no problem

with that, then...*sigh*

I'm sorry, I just don't understand how a person can do this to her child and

have absolutely nothing done about it just because she leaves him with a

relative instead of a stranger.

UGH.

You might ask on your state autism list about lawyers who do pro bono work.

Catholic Social Services and Easter Seals might also have some resources.

Maybe someone would be able to help you?

UGH. :(

Debbi,

I'm SO angry for you and for Buster. It's not fair that he has to suffer

because his mother is so irresponsible. There really should be something

you can do. I wish I knew more people with connections in Tucson. My

brother, his wife and my father in law all live there, but they're not

lawyers or connected to anythign that can help. :-(

Debbi,

What an awful situation to be in. I admire you for

what you're trying to do for Buster.

I wish I had something useful to add.
