Guest guest
snip>the choking feeling I get which is worse when I lie down is reflux, has me on meds and if it isn't better in a month then she's sending me to a gastroenterologist who will stick a camera down my throat..aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........SHE'S FIRED!!!! Says my fatigue/brain fog is cos of my chronic pain/arthritis /depression Well as much as you're frustrated - it IS worth checking this out. Mum had a choking feeling for years and nobody would listen to her. Turns out she had " silent " reflux, i.e., no usual symptoms, although her tongue was constantly raw from the acid, but nobody made the connection. Finally, after an endoscope, it turned out she did have reflux, so bad that the bottom of her oesophagus is burned away and it doesn't work at all, food goes down by gravity alone and there are a whole range of foods she can't eat. She also has brain fog and fatigue (since forever) - yet her thyroid is completely normal - has had it checked because of me. So until you find out exactly what's going on, it is a bloody merry-go-round. Do you have any of those clinics around you that are staffed by young overseas docs? That's how Mum got tested for Alzheimers (which she doesn't have) because her GP wouldn't do it. She just fronted up with her list of symptoms and the doc immediately referred her. Donna in Qld.
